Headlights LED Strip Idea

Last December, I cleared my own headlights and added angel eyes. I'm looking to re-do this set to add carbon fiber and paint some of the internal housing components as well this time. I was debating on if I wanted to do angel eyes again or add a switchback led light strip to match some of the more modern looks that Honda/Acura offers, as seen on the newer Accords, TLXs, MDXs, etc. I currently have 05 headlights, so the angel eyes look just "okay" due to there only being one angel eye per headlight.

I recently ran across this idea from AckTL05 (endlessrpm) and was wondering if anyone had any idea where/how this strip was mounted and if the strip is side-emitting or not? I've seen dozens of posts with the LED strip modification on the lower portion of the headlight housing. I'm well aware of how to do this. However, this one looks different as the LED strip seems to be mounted behind the chrome piece (i.e. hidden). I've never seen this style before. What do you guys think of it? Nice or rice?

the led strip is a good thought, but needs to be executed properly. In the above pics. the light strips are way to thick and bright for my liking, they need to be more subtle IMO

I am starting to agree with you on that. The light emission from these does appear to be too wide. I would like to find a strip that dispenses around 5,000K with a sharp-ish cutoff. I hate the blue-ish tint that comes with 6,000K and above. Does anyone else have thoughts on the LED strip vs. Angel eyes? Product recommendations? Experiences?

i do like the "hidden strip" idea tho!!!
and agreed the light blob is a little too wide...however, could it be from the way the camera is picking up the light??

Steven, your thread shows up in nearly every headlight LED search lol! Props to being one of the firsts to complete this modification. As many have stated, installing the strip on the lower portion of the housing, like you did, is probably the cleanest looking option.

I'm really leaning towards more of a uniform LED strip where you can't see all of the individual lights as much and for a color temperature output that's more 5,000K pure white as opposed to 6,000K. More or less something like this... (which I actually just found). I'll have to do some research on exLED though. I'm not seeing the best reviews from fellow Acuraziners:

And No! I don't want that flexible tubing garbage. That stuff looks like junk in my opinion.

I don't really think this is the best looking option, but I ran across this on HID Planet and thought it was worth sharing. It's definitely different. It looks like a Lexus-style headlight.

If you want to put transparent side reflectors, you're looking for something like:

I like the first idea you posted which starts after the projector. And i agree if you can have it one straight line like on the Tesla it would be nice

Thanks for the input guys. I'm kind of straying away from the LED strip idea. I currently have angel eyes and like the look a lot. As mentioned before, I have a set of 07-08 headlights that I am going to bake/clear as well. I'm debating adding 4 switchback angel eyes instead of 4 regular angel eyes.

Currently, I have 2 of these regular angel eyes (1 in each headlight) in my 05 headlights:
2007-2008 Acura TL 1210-SMD LED Angel Eye Kit For Headlight Retrofit
Even though the color says 6,000K, the color is right around 5,000K, i.e. Pure White. I haven't had any issues with these and they have been going strong for about a year now. No complaints...

However, I'm debating adding 4 switchback angel eyes instead of 4 regular angel eyes. Here is a video comparing Diode Dynamics HD Halos to Morimoto XSB 2.0 Halos (I understand that version 3.0 has since been released):
2007-2008 Acura TL 1210-SMD LED Angel Eye Kit For Headlight Retrofit
I'm not a fan of blue-ish tint by any means, so I'm wondering if buying the Diode Dynamics angel eyes would be worth it? I see they are listed in the Vendor Directory. However, does anyone have any experience with them?
https://acurazine.com/forums/vendor_directory.php

I'm open to suggestions. I'm curious as to what you guys think about doing switchbacks instead of regular angel eyes mainly.
