Front bumper needs replaced, should I do the swap?

So, I got in an accident on Friday. Some idiot doing her makeup didn't see a block-long traffic queue at a red light. She managed to cause a four-car accident, in which I was one of the middle cars. So, I am getting new bumpers (front and back) courtesy of her insurance.

I know that the bumper swap up to 07-08 has been done hundreds of times before, and I think that it looks good. However, since my mesh pieces and grille are still intact on my current bumper, the insurance won't (and I didn't expect them to) pay to replace them if I swap up to the '07 bumper. The parts necessary to do the swap (minus the actual fogs and the bumper cover, which they are replacing) will total out around $240, shipped.

So, the question: is it worth it? I know that the fogs are also going to run me about $250 after all of this is said and done. Opinions? Thanks in advance.

If you like the look, then it's a no brainer.... when else could you change the outward appearance for <$300 w/ professional paint?

Yeah, it's just the overall $500 price tag that is throwing me a bit. I was raised to be pretty darn frugal haha. Thanks for the input so far...the only reason I am considering it is that the price is absolutely amazing compared to what it would be otherwise. I guess I am really wanting to hear from people who have done it whether they would do it again.

Yeah, I think I am just gonna do it. If I don't, I'll probably just regret it later, and I refuse to pay 1000 bucks for it to get done down the line. Thanks all.

You could always ask the shop of u can bring your own parts

It will save u money big time. Shop charges you 3-350$ for the bumpers and delray acura sells them for 230

That's 200 saved total on the front+rear

Plus anything else you meed

I had to have my front bumper replaced. I had yellow plexiglas covering my fogs. The shop even transferred the plexiglas into my new bumper (free). They wanted to make it exactly the way it was originally. But of course I wasn't upgrading the bumper. In your case I'd do it. It's a great opportunity and if you were thinking of doing it anyway, now's your chance.

im in the same boat as you are.
I just recently got my car back with the 08 type-s bumper.
BUTT, the lower grills, fogs, A-BAR, and grill are on my dime.

DEPO makes fogs for us, and they are SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper than OEM.
Also, USR makes the fogs for us as well. I'm not to sure if they are the same as DEPO, I'm just giving you options here.

the A-BAR is the next expensive piece at 77 dollars.
the grills cost 7-12 bux each.

Yeah, but if your A-Bar was damaged you should have received money from insurance for a new one, so you could just buy the 07-08 one...If the shop was paid directly then they owe you money if they didn't buy the a new A-Bar. Most 04-06 parts are the same prices as 07-08 from the dealer anyway (like the bumper obviously)

If yours wasnt damaged, like in my case, i removed and sold it here in the BM and used the money to buy 07-08 ones from the dealer. I had to add cash of course, but it helped.

Thanks for all the tips. I ordered the Depo fogs and all the other parts for the swap. Since my grille wasn't damaged, I did have to pay the extra for that. Car will be back to me next Thursday! Super stoked.
