Thru the car

you can see out the passenger window that it's not that dark from the inside.

and close up

For privacy, the light mirror really helps keep the prying eyes out, you can faintly make out outlines of stuff in the car.

The tint looks cool. The flaps look good with the blue. Overall, very clean looking automobile! Newbie questions; how well does the tint hold up? Any special upkeep? Also, do you notice it keeps the interior cooler when parked in the sun?

aging of tint

I had the same tint on my 00 TL and it lasted just fine the 14 months I kept the car, and I keep in touch with the guy who bought it and have not heard a peep from it. It was an expensive job at the shop I go to $265 after tax.

And yes.. MUCH cooler interior. I believe that tint was 99% UV and 80 or 90% heat rejecting so it is a VERY nice addition. My 1st reason for doing it was keep the UV off the leather, second reason was privacy (it's umm.. how to say in america.. BJ proof) .. and it keeps wandering passerby eyes out.

Ha, I didn't even notice the mud flaps. It blends in very well. I may have to reconsider them.

Any problems with your Navi's reception after the tint job?

Are the mud flaps on both the front and the back?

yes.. there are 4 flaps.. for each wheel.

If i'm not mistaken, isn't the lump on top the GPS and XM ?? so tinting will have Zero effect. But no, I still have perfect reception on both.

I'll see if I have pix showing the rear flaps. I just shot a few quick last nite.. it's sunny today so if it is still sunny when I get outta here I'll get more.

Manual says that the GPS antenna is on the rear deck and noted that metallic window tints may affect reception. I believe the hump on the roof is for XM as the '04 Accords have them now since they just added XM as well. Last year's models didn't have them.

Saw an Abyss at the dealer's yesterday in the direct sunlight. I was surprised at the amount of "sparkle" (sorry for the technical term!) in this color in the sun. In your pictures, you don't see that at all. I've been driving a dark blue 328 and didn't want to get a second blue car, but the Abyss looked very nice.

I agree with elroy, the pics don't to the color justice (sorry). Without doubt, it is a great color. Like elroy said the colors in the metal flake are amazing when you get up close. A very different blue, which is nice. Makes it much more distinctive.

Tint Cost

Expect to pay about 200 - 300. Sorry for the large range, but it will depend on your location and type of tint.

Legal tint shades by state. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, I believe most common is 20 front 35 back.

BTW, that's beautiful tint there Sherlock. :wow:

That blue was my second favorite color, and it was a very close second (I ended up getting black). Nice car Sherlock. I'd be scared to drive with that mirror tint though - last thing I need is cops bugging the hell out of me.

I just got mine tinted and ended up with 15% on the rear and I believe 35% on the 4 doors. I ended up using Llumar Centaur film.

I think you meant to say 35 front and 20 back. Right?

Not necessarily I don't think. The tint itself is cheap, but a cheap install can ruin it. I am paying someone to dismantle the doors and properly tint each window to the base. Some cheap jobs just do it to the rubber at the base of the window. Also there is nothing worse than a car with "tint bubbles" from a lousy install. When paying so much for a car it's worth it for me to have it done properly and guaranteed.

Hey, I like the fact that Acura decided to put the parking brake where it ought to be....in your hands, but I've noticed it is quite high when engaged.

Damn, it really looks high. Do you have problems pulling that darn thing up when you are seated?

The parking brake has not been in the way at all either engage or disengaged. I much prefer it to the foot brake that we had in the prev. TL.

Yes, yes... 35 front and 20 rear. I'm sure that's why I said, correct me if I'm wrong. Something seemed amiss.

Curious on the color. I went to look at the TLs last night. No blue was there. There was a TL-S sitting by for some work and it looked TOO blue. Your picture looks more like a dark blue.

Do you know if this is the same blue as the TL-S?

I did like the red. It had a lot of metal flake in the paint.

Thanks for the info. I saw three green, but at night they do not look green at all. Will have to go back and take a look in the daylight.
