I asked the dealer and he said he didn't know. I would imagine that it is in the works. Supposedly there's an A spec that will be released later on in the '04 model. It's mostly cosmetic stuff, no real performance gain other than larger rims and a suspension upgrade.

Acura has said there will be no TL-S. End of story. Its new "performance-oriented" model is the 6 MT. An "A-Spec" for TLs with the AT is in the works, with a body kit, steering wheel (moreace is STILL looking for a picture of this ), Brembo brakes, 18" wheels, and special badging. There's a picture of it somewhere, do a search of this part of the forum for "A-spec" and you'll find it.

Type S. S = See ya. No more type S after the RSX redesign.

A-Spec should be out by end of November.

It wont have anything more special than what is offered now except a special steering wheel, suspension, and badging..

It will be around $3k+ IMO, it will be good for people that want a sportier feeling, or who wanta body kit and rims, and can get all that in a package and more..

Acura wouldn't exactly publicize and push an upcoming Type S version because that would damage sales of the 2004 model that just came out. A good guess is that a variant will come out in a year or two that will feature the IMA AWD system that will debut on the RL.

Its just a dealer add-on, and can be added on to Auto or 6 Speed

I don't know guys, I agree with Vandy786 they wouldn't hurt sales by talking about an S. We'll have to see what the next year or two has in store. It should be interesting though!

The '04 is already a "Type S". It's the same displacement engine as the '03 Type S with 10 more hp and torque. Probably not much more tweaking they can do to this engine.

Ok, I agree there will be a upgrade to the TL in 1-3 years..

I think it will use IMA and AWD and be 300+ HP..

It will come out after 2005 RL debuts with this Variant..

This is all a good guess.

Highly unlikely.

It's doubtful Acura themselves know yet whether or not technical hurdles and market trends will warrant a "higher" performance TL, so how would some dealer mechanic? What, does he sit in on the mahogany row meetings...?!

Integrated Motor Assist. Basically an electric motor that assists the main gasoline engine during acceleration. It can also capture energy during regenerative braking.
