Fan keeps cycling on and off
I've had the 07 TL for 2 weeks now and it seems that when I have the air running the fan cycles on and off every 30 seconds or so. I will run for a while and then kick off. Its not horribly loud or anything but it seems annoying. I was told it was normal but it seems a little excessive. Does all the 07 TLs do it or should I but the service guys at the dealership?

Mine does it too if I keep the temp set low and it's very hot (90+) outside, but not every 30 seconds, more like a few minutes at a time. The system is designed to kick in based on readings of inside temperature, so the lower you have it set the harder it has to work to keep the inside of the car at the set temp. If you raise the set temp a few degrees it will cycle less frequently.

Today it was 92- 93 degrees and I had the air set to 70 and the fan would cycle on for a while and maybe 30 seconds to a minute it would kick right back on. That makes sense. I will play around with the settings some more. Thanks

Cycling is normal; the compressor doesn't run 100% of the time, nor does the condensor fan. If it tries to start and there's not enough pressure it might start the 30 sec on - 30 sec off cycle, if it was a constant thing i'd take it in but if scorching outside and you've got the system set to the lowest temp that might explain the increased cycle count.
As always, everything I say may be 100% wrong so don't listen to me -_-

I have a month-old TL-S and the same thing happens on mine. It sounded normal to me, given that it's an automatic system, it's been nasty hot out, and the car was idling with the temp set pretty low.
Now that I hear of others with the same description, I'm certain that it's normal...
Enjoy your new car!

Thanks, thats makes me feel a little better. I doesnt do it when the air is turned off so it has to be the a/c. I tried calling the dealership but they wouldnt let me talk to anyone in service who would know what they were talking about it. The girl at the desk said it sounded normal but I could schedule to drop it off and have them look at it. I really hate to take it in and have it messed with if its not really needed. Thanks for the help.

True, I just noticed this over the last couple of weeks as well. Mine cycles constantly with the CC set to auto every 30 sec or so. I have never seen such a short cycle on any other car I've owned. Other cars cycle much slowly. I guess it's normal for the TL though, no worries.

If it is the fan it is because the engine needs to be cooled. It stays off when you drive because there is cool air provided using the grill. I didn't read all of this thread so if somebody has already mentioned then I am sorry.
Basically when your car sits, there is no air coming through so it needs to run the fan to cool the block.

Just my $.02.. My TL-S does the same thing with the AC set to auto. Of course, it's hella hot out here in ABQ. This is one of those things that most people don't notice/care. However, I noticed it on the one I test drove, and on the one I took home. The engine cooling fan cycles much less, but it MUCH louder than the AC fan..

My Honda Pilot cooling fans cycle just as much as my TL's. Thinking back, my '01 Accord did the same thing. Must be normal operation for honda products. Be worried if you don't hear nothin'.

Anybody else's TLS 3.5L A/C compressor do that?

Yes, Mine clicks, then the fan comes on. In actuality, the entire engine compartment is rather loud from the outside with the hood open. It's about as loud as my Jeep at idle when all the fans are on.
