Pics of trucks you find interesting

Was reading up on rotary engines today and ran across the Mazda REPU (Rotary Engine Pickup), which I thought was pretty cool.

Thought I'd start a truck thread, while I was at it.

Great find, @nanxun! The Mazda REPU is indeed a unique piece of automotive history. It's interesting to see how Mazda used their rotary engine tech in a pickup. The mix of a sleek, high-revving rotary engine in a practical vehicle must have been quite an experience.

I've always been partial to the 2G and 3G Toyota Pickup (North American name aka Hilux worldwide). Know so many people that had these with their reliable dependable 20R/22R 4 cylinder and 5MT.

Remember assembling one of these when I was 8. Got a contact high from the model glue.

Not really sure if this qualifies as a "pickup," but saw a mint example of a second-gen Ford Ranchero (in white) on a flatbed truck while driving on the Beltway (Wash, DC) today.

Wasn't safe to take a pic, but this is basically what it looked like, albeit in much better nick.

I've got the Hot Wheels versions of all the car-based pickups: the Rabbit, Datsun 620, Mazda REPU etc.

1978 Dodge LRT. First "muscle truck." Powered by a 360ci short-block V8 police engine.

1978 MY skirted federal clean-air regs (i.e., sans catalytic-converter) and ran on "regular" (leaded) gas.

That shifter does seem quite low, though. May be deceptive image, but looks like it should be about 6" longer/higher.

Again, not exactly a truck, but did not expect such a small vehicle to have an 3.5 I6 making (the gentleman's agreement) 276hp.

Guess that's why it's an EVO--a Dakar Rally homologation special. Only 2,500 street-legal examples made. LOVE that hood scoop and the wide-body kit!

Huh. Another example of the Pajero Evo with much lower mileage (61k) has shown up on BaT today.

Pretty much a Pontiac G8 [which is a rebadged Holden Commodore IIRC] with a pickup bed.
If they'd sold it here, I'd have expected El Camino to be on it.

Reminds me of a Hot Wheels car that I played all the time as a kid--a hand-me-down from a first-cuz (6 yrs older than me) who lived in Alameda, CA.

Always thought it was based on an El Camino, even though it was called the "Seasider" (c. 1970-71)

I still have it as part of the collection he bequeathed to me when I was 10 yo. An example's been posted on eBay by a seller in Santa Monica asking US$180!! In fact, there's a bunch of them in different colors/conditions on sale for $130 - $350. Crazy.

Not exotic or anything (actually pretty ), but apparently the platform for the REPU in the OP.

This has a 2.2L I4 Perkins diesel (originally designed in England, but produced by Mazda under license for the '82-'84 B2200s) and is a 5 M/T RWD example.
