You ought to get Navi it comes with nice voice commands to control Nav, radio, climate and XM. It will be little expensive but is worth every penny. There are lot of thread on people regreting after not buying Nav.

As far as 6MT and AT goes. It really depends on you and your daily commute. I bought 6MT since I love 6MT even in heavy traffic. 6MT tranny on 04 TL is one of the best I've ever driven and is fun to drive. Also there are some threads talking about tranny recall on AT read and do some homework before you make a decision. Keep in mind that 6MT with Nav is the most expensive combination you'll find with any dealer.

All the best and welcome!

Again I agree with joganjani. I have the 5AT non-nav. This always seems to start a flame, but I don't regret not getting the nav. I have no idea how great it is! Because of that, I don't regret it at all. This seems to be the least expensive combination you can get, so you can get a really good price. At least in Dallas, you can get the 5AT, non-nav for a little over invoice. I didn't think the price difference for the other combinations justified it. If you think you would like the nav, you should try it out. I didn't even look at it after researching prices. Good luck with your decision!

AFAIK, the tranny problems on the automatics are mostly in lower VINS. it has to do with some lubricant and a bolt i believe

Tehn get the Nav; you'll thank yourself even if you never travel outside your town. I've lived in Dallas 30 years and I can't say I know every street or shortcut. And I just don't understand those who say ignorance is bliss. The TL is a great car; the nav makes it a SUPER car!

If you have to ask (means your thinking about it) then get it.

After 10 months I don't think I am capable of operating a car without navi or voice controls. I am doomed to have them in every car I own for the rest of my life. I don't even remember where most of the controls are as I never look at them.

I bought 5AT non-navi and LOVE the car. AT because of painful L.A. stop and go commute and non-navi because of $3900 price difference. I would gladly have paid $1500 more for navi, maybe even $2K, but not $4K. I have driven mostly MT cars before and really enjoy the sporty feel on the open road--but it is murder in heavy traffic. Plus the resale value takes a hit as 95% of drivers want AT.

Best of luck with your decision!

Get what you feel more comfortable as far as transmission, it's a FWD sedan, so I decided to just get Automatic. This isnt a m5 or a STI, so I didn't see the need for the 6 speed transmisssion. As far as the navigation goes, it's a must, and it is definently worth $2k more, it's wonderful and it makes the car so much high tech. If your gonna keep the car for awhile and want to sell it, I suggest getting the navi, it will help the resale value as well, most people are going to want the navi on third generations it seems.
