Clock change

Last week I decided to pull the trigger and upgrade the stereo to a modern Kenwood unit, complete with Android Auto, Apple Car play, GPS nav, and more. Doing so means pulling out the lower half of the in-dash unit with the cassette and CD changer. The new stereo sounds great. One minor thing that triggers my OCD is that Ino longer have access to the nav screen and setup menus on the Acura dash unit, which would be fine except the clock in the dash is now 2.5 hours off and I have no way to access the menu to change it. Is that a permanent problem with upgrading the stereo? I remember when the Acura was screwy with the clock due to the way it came from the factory a couple of years ago, and removing a fuse at a certain time reset it. Is that the best way to get the clock to have the right time? If so, can someone remind me which fuse, and when to pull it? I seem to recall it's at the 12 hour, yes?

I would check the manual for the clock fuse, then pull it and reinstall it at exactly noon. There are some indications it is fuse #4 in the underhood box.

Otherwise check the thread at Clock reset and see if the method discussed will work. Make sure you have any applicable radio codes to reenable the radio.

Can't reenable the radio because of the new stereo. The nav screen touch screen is dead now

Hmm, sounds like one step forward and two steps back.

not really. More like 2 steps forward and a quarter step back. I lost the clock, and i lost the Acura nav, but now i have a high end nav stereo with Android Auto, Apple Car play, and WAY better sound. It has a clock too, it's just my eyes need to look for it in the new location. Also has a CD player

Yeah I have the same issue when I replaced my nav with Android Auto. The NAV system had gps which automatically changed time for you. But when the Nav fails you have to basically "unplug it and replug it back in". You actually wanna cut off the battery power for at least 2 mins for the computer to lose its memory. Also the clock starts up at 1PM not 12PM when you reconnect it FYI. This becomes alot more annoying when you live in an area with Daylight savings as you have to do it twice a year. On the plus side you also reset your transmission profile, which if you're stuck in traffic alot definitely improves shift feel.

Figured I'd update this. I took the car in this week to get upgraded Focal speakers and a new amp. The installer knew some extra tricks. He installed a 60 Hz (maybe 68) resistor in line between the original nav screen and the Kenwood Nav/AndroidAuto unit, et. voila, Original nav screen and clock control are back. L Now I have everything. Pretty excellent

Sounds like you needed a nav retention harness 🤷‍♂️

Bro, you said your installer added a "60 Hz (maybe 68) resistor" . That's exactly what that retention harness does. It's a well known issue. BTW, I've never heard of a resistor with a Hz rating. 🤷‍♂️

Whatever. It works. 🤣

Sister. And I don't know v what the rating was (Hz or something else). The radio was immaturely with a harness, but it did not give access to the factory nav system
