The fan speed has to be the same on both sides, but you can adjust the temperature and where the fan blows on each side separately.

Because if you select a different mode on one side, it is no longer on "auto". The other side will remain on automatic.

And the DUAL light will illuminate letting you know your HVAC systems are autonomous

I have a question about "Auto". Does the AC always run when you have Auto on, even if it is blowing warm air? I thought I read this a while back, that the air compression runs 100% of the time when you have AUTO set.

yes, when you have auto on, the ac compressor runs all the time, even if it is blowing warm air.....for times when you need heat, turn off a/c by pressing the a/c button, it will display "a/c off" and adjust the temperature...thats what I do.

Thanks.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having an "auto" function, as it switched off when you manually turn off the a/cc. I won't use it during the winter as I don't want the hit to my gas mileage.

the a/c acts as a dehumidifier when the heat is on. so when you use the auto function in the winter it does serve a purpose. plus the actual effect on gas mileage is pretty minor. i think there was a 1-2 mpg difference with a/c turned on vs off. there was more of a difference when in slow moving traffic but most of the time traffic was relatively smooth.

A/C runs in auto

I think Honda really goofed on this, You would think that if the A/C shows nothing at all that it should be off by default. Just bewere that if you push auto, you also need to push the A/C button so it says off or you will be running the compressor in freezing weather. My Honda pilot does the same thing.

In Chicagoland traffic I sit a lot. Per the trip computer I average about 17 MPH. I don't like the idea of the a/c running the whole time. I am only getting 17-18 mpg.

Playing devil's advocate, vikrampatel may not have a TL yet, and thus may not have an owner's manual. His original post mentioned that he saw the auto button in PICTURES of the TL dashboard. Now, I don't know if this is true or not but it's a possibility!

Funny thing I also noticed is when you press auto the a/c turns on without saying a/c on. However, when you turn a/c OFF it will show A/C OFF. BUt if you press a/c on, then it will read "A/C ON". Why wouldn't they have A/C ON when you press auto then????

Because "they" don't need to. When "Auto" is displayed, the A/C is on by default, and that is explained in the owners manual. You really don't need a redundant A/C ON icon. Additionally, when the A/C is on, it's not "on" constantly but the compressor is only functional intermittantly. I, for one, welcome the dehumidification function of the A/C.
