Question Clearbra on Aluminium Grill?

Can the clearbra be applied on the front aluminum grill?
I had a clearbra put on my car, but the installer said that it should only be applied to painted surfaces?

I worried about the state of the aluminum after a number of years and how to protect it?

thanks, pps

I wish I could get a chrome piece like is on my 02TL to replace that aluminum. I don't mind it inside the car but that's the one thing I don't like about the outside.

I just had the clearbra installed and I asked to put a piece in the aluminum to protect it. It was installed without any problems.

If you really look close, you can actually see the clear film, rather than the polished aluminum. My thought are that I'm happier seeing the clearcoat look of the aluminum rahter than the brushed look than a lot of brightly shining dings.

Why worry, it is easily replaced from under the hood by a few screws. So if is messed up, just get a new one, it bolts right on in its place.

How much does it cost and how many times do you want to do that over the life of the vehicle?

I had it done by Sheeld Industries, It's a two man outfit really but they were factory trained by X-pel. I got hood, sides, mirrors, bumper and the little aluminum strip. paid $595.
They're in Huntington Beach. search the x-pel website for their info.
Good service and quality they redid the hood and the sides because of bubbles under the film.

You can cover the aluminum strip on the hood if you want. I think the reason people suggest not to do it is simple. It will take away the nice look of the finish. Just like when people want me to do the aluminum mirrors on the new Audi's. It just doesnt look as good as the real thing.

Aluminum finish is made to hold up pretty well over time, definitely better than painted surfaces.

If you still want a piece for the strip you can buy bulk Here for cheap.
