Hey,

I noticed a problem with my TL. Occasionally, when I am at a stop, I have my foot on the brakes and sometimes I noticed the car jerks forward a few inches. I doubt this is normal, since it could cause me to rearend someone for no reason. Any ideas/tips? Thanks in advance.

Its normal. My TL'S did the same thing. At first it was a little disconcerting but after a while it either goes away or you get used to it.

Ok thanks for the response. I was a little concerned. I wonder why this occurs.

Is the A/C on? My Camry does that also as the A/C clutch engages and the motor increases idle speed to keep the car from stalling at a red light. Most people tend to hold the brake pedal with just enough pressure to keep the car from moving...no more no less. When the A/C engages the slight increase in idle will make the car move just a smidge.

Woohoo, I'm not alone! Although, I find it difficult with a 6MT in city traffic. Otherwise, no problem setting it on cruise and jerking away. I especially like it when my girl "lends me a hand" or "gives me lip". :smokin:

I'm glad you brought that up... I thought I was the only one that does that.

Wait, we are talking about..?..?...

Sometimes the AC is on, I usually keep it on auto. I noticed it occurs more when I first start the car and I wait at a light or intersection. Well, now at least I have a peace of mine. Thanks.

Further info, Other brands do the same thing I read somewhere that an an automaker was getting sued because the driver got into an accident for it. Sounded like a pretty bogus lawsuit to me unless the car was lunging at high speed the sudden accceleration mystery that almost destroyed Audi, which BTW was BS.

hmm
Not sure if this is the same thing but I notice when I come to a quick, brake mashing stop the car almost stops and then it sounds like it lets off the brake pads moves a tiny bit then grabs them again and stops.

That's the ABS (antilock braking system). You can read more about it in the owner's manual, page 189.
