can you wetsand the pillars between the windows?

with 1500 or 2000, i see a few scratches that looked liked they could've been buffed out, but that didn't work, so i'm wondering if i could wetsand the pillar since it looks like paint. not sure though. any suggestions?

I'm sure you can wet sand the pillars. They are painted. However, don't use anything more coarse than 3000 or you will regret it.

Sand very lightly, in only one direction and use a block. Stay away from the corners because you will cut right through the clear very quickly.

Post before and after pics. I'd like to see how it comes out.

I'm not certain they're painted. The rear window 'guide' (channel where the window slides - between the rear window and the back quarter window) has a spot on it that's about 3 inches long that looks like vinyl that has slightly twisted. Not sure how this happended either. Don't mean to confuse things, but I'm just sayin' that it may not be paint based on what I'm seeing on my TL.

I heard they were pretty cheap parts if you wanted to swap them out with a new set. Price them out before you sand them down.

I used some SSR2.5 and a PC/4in orange pad on mine, then protected with Z-2. Yours may be worse though.

At my local dealer, you can get em from those acura parts dealers on line for like 20-25 depending on which one but then you have to pay shipping also. For the one I installed, driver door, I pulled back the weather stripping and there was I think 3 phillips screws. Unscrew them and it pops out and then pop the new one. Was about 4 months ago I did it but it was pretty easy.

Yeah why is that these things start to peel or fade in such a short amount of time? What can be done to prevent this? More clear coat?

My car gets spanked by the sun all the time and I don't have these issues. What gives?

Do you wax the pillars? I wax my pillars everytime I wax the car and they still look brand new.
