Is this what you paid after or before the trade?

Congrats. Hope you enjoy the RL. I just traded my 04 TL non-navi for an 06 navi. I looked at the RL and liked it a lot; but in all honesty, I don't understand it's pricing. No offense towards your decision, but for $49k-$50k I'd be looking at BMW or Audi. Everyone has their preferences, but I just don't understand the $50k RL at all. IMO, they're about $8-$9k overpriced.
Maybe you can shed some light on your decision. I'd be interested to hear what you liked and valued. Again, no offense intended towards you or anyone else who bought an RL, I'd just like to better understand the attraction at that price point.

I paid 37,183 OTD everything included trade in.

Wife fell in love with the car ( Nav. and rear camera,72 month/70,000 power train warranty plus reliable of Honda motor/Japanese electronics)) and the trade in was not too bad.

So you paid over 60K? You mentioned you got over 23K for the trade, something doesn't add up, even if you paid sticker.

After the trade.

Trade in 04TL because after front seat cover replaced the butt prints came back. Also after the front suspension had been replaced and fixed three times for the noise when go thru. speed bump but the noise is still there. So I got sick of the car.

Apparently AsianTL is not familar with basic math. Either that or perhaps he simply thinks the rest of us will "infer" the differneces. For those still lost...it looks like the dealer "said" they were giving him credit of $23,685 for his '04TL which had approximately 27,000 miles on it at the time of trade. Since he mentions the A-Spec, he's alluding to either a partial A-Spec jit (i.e. probably just the body molding trim parts I would guess). While it is a little helpfull to the rest of us for valuation purposes since it seems to mean that the NAVI car with similar miles would probably pull down another $1,000 or so similarily equiped (typical for the NAVI to be worht about 50% of it's original costs in these cases). He also states that he got the RL for $48,970 so basic math would indicate that difference to be a balance of $25,285. But that's about $12K off his "out the door" final numbers. Since he would get the tax credit on a trade in of the trade in value he would only be paying taxes on the difference. He lives in PA so that's probably around $683 in additional cost. OK, so subtract that from his $37,183 OTD price yeilds $36,500 balance. $36,500 minus $25,285 yeilds a prio outstanding balance on his 04TL of around $12,815. Hmmm, assuming he was making around a $500/month payment this means that he would have had the 04TL paid for in about 18 months whereas he now has a payment $200 higher than before and gets the "opportunity" to pay for it for another 60 months. Hmmm, why do people do stuff like this? Don't they realize that ONLY now are they actually making headway on the original investment? I guess I can understand it if the guy thinks his 04TL was a peice of junk but man...It's just like giving the dealer cash... Do'ah, here a couple grand... Do'ah!

To make this more clear, I was still owed the bank $10,264 at the time of trade in.
I normally pay $778.00 a month for the TL ($577 +$200.00 more each month) to pay off early. The new payment will be $700.00.
I guess that I got the big loss when trade the car in.

The RL is a great car. As I keep saying, I LOVED my TL...adored it....but the new car bug bit at the perfect time....just as another car I admired was bigtime discounted. Now, with A-Spec.....it handles even better than stock AND I can do things in the turns I could never do in the TL. Acura MUST find a way to lighten up SH-AWD and put it on the TL....if the 2007 TL-S had had SH-AWD, I would have bought that instead of the RL.

Sorry for the confusion, actually $37,184.77 is how much I have to finance from the bank with 4.9 % interest and it comes out $700.00 a month for 5 years.
(The TL was not paid off yet but the dealer will take care that ( $10,264 =balance).

A year or so ago the RL was in a comparison test among several AWD vehicles. I think it was in Edmunds (see link below). The RL came in first place beating out BMW, Audi, Infiniti and Lexus. I think BMW came in at a distant fourth.

The best way to sum it up is that the RL is somewhat anonymous. You really don't know how good it is until you drive it. The SH-AWD is far and away better than the systems in the competition in that it goes beyond just a system that helps you in bad weather. It's designed to enhance the handling dynamics of the car. The NAV/Bluetooth/HFL blows away the competition, the interior is impeccable (remember that the RL is still bolted together in Japan), and the pricing is very attractive.

Remember that I'm discussing other AWD vehicles which are all AWD. If you start comparing it against the V8 competition, then it may become a different discussion, but then the pricing is different as well.

Thanks for the info.

I looked at BMW530xi and I really liked it but the price was over 60K.
So I pick RL>530Xi.

There are some great deals to be had on the RL now. They have been discounted and you can pick them up in the low 40's.

This is only true of the leftover 2006s, one of which I bought. The 2007 equivalent of the base 2006 RL is now called "tech package" and people who waited got an mp3 port and reverse camera built in, but are now paying closer to MSRP ($49k is MSRP), as AsianTL did. That's OK, the RL is worth the price of admission even at that price, and especially when you compare it to the competition.

Isnt there talk about the 2008 redesigned model to carry SH-AWD? I have my eyes set on the new body of the G-Coupe though, not gonna lie

Interesting....I didn't realize the 530xi was that much. The RL is making more sense to me now. Although, the Audi A6 is AWD and its sport package is much more reasonably priced than Acura's. Tech-wise, I'm sure the RL wins; and the RL does have 40+ more HP than the V6 Audi. At any rate, I guess maybe Acura isn't smoking what I thought.
