i also have a butt prints issue for my 2004 tl and i talk to the burrard acura in vancouver canada. they said that they cannot fix it and they didnt sure that is under warranty. they said they gonna call to acura in toronto. and they gonna let me know if i get under warranty and change with the 2005 seat. i hope i will get it, if not, it will sucks.

 

are the seats different in the 05?

 

yeah, the 2005 seat kinda little bit different on the bottom one.

 

The '05 covers won't fit on the '04 seat without changing the cushions under the leather. The '05 seats have the extra seam sewn into the leather requiring anchor points for the rod that pulls the seam down into the cushion and this isn't there on the '04 seat. It's not just a simple swap of leather covers as most people assume.

 

what about change all the seat? not only the cover.

 

changing out the whole seat would probably be really expensive.

 

I think you have a good case. Since they admitted to Ania that a peice of padding was missing. I'm sure this would cause the excessive stretching on the seat covers.

I hope I persuade Ania to scan and post her receipt (excluding privates) showing it was a warranty repair even though it is US they are built in the same factory.

 

I do not believe they said something was missing... The 05 model has something the 04 did not. What I do not believe is that seats have been made for years and why go cheap on the interior just to have this problem.

To get your TL seat to look like just like the 05 seat, you do have to anchor the extra seam. That part is correct. The upholstery shop that my dealer sent my TL to did not do this, nor did they put any extra padding. They may not have been aware of that or they realized that the 04 seat does not have the anchor points. When I got my car back, I noticed that the seat cover on mine is flat, but the pad is stretched tight. Even after 4 1/2 months, I still see no butt print. I weigh 185 pounds and squat 300 so my butt's pretty round and should make a lasting imprint, but it doesn't. So the point is that even though the cover probably should be anchored so that the extra seam pulls down, it's not necessary. My install is proof of that.

 

How does the seam look without being pulled down into the cushion?
