Anybody own this jack?

http://www.harborfreight.com/rapid-p...ack-92782.html

I just purchased this jack on sale yesterday from HF. I just looked at the reviews and they look a little shaky. I was just wondering if anybody has any personal experience with it? I may take it back and just get one from Sears to be on the safe side. Also if anybody is looking they have 6 ton jack stands for 24.99 plus you can get a 20% off coupon online.

I have known several people that got these over the years...all say they work fine for general car use...but eventually have to replace them as they go bad. Its kind of one of those...get what you pay for things...but none of them were unhappy as they seemed to know this up front. Unfortunately I cant recall off hand how long they lasted.

I have a smaller one of those. It work well, but I used it yesterday, and it doesn't lift the car high enough for me. I wish I would have gotten on of the ones you got. But they are what you pay for, they work fine, but it's life will be less than a nicer one.

It'll last you long enough. The piston seals can fail over time or if exposed to a shockload (as can just about any economy jack), but you should be good to go.

Harbor Freight does sell some really junk equipment at low prices, BUT...they get the job done. My brother recently purchased a compound miter saw and table saw for under $300, not bad, but not as accurate as I would have preferred.

They say you have to change the hydraulic fluid every year, even the Craftsman jacks have shakey reveiws. I've read they fail just after the one yr warrenty is up. find one with instructions on how to change the fluid. this will help the seals and prolong its life

They're alright. Just get some good jack stands. I don't trust my life with HF jack stands.

I agree with pretty much everyone here. I have an Craftsman jack that my father gave me that's nearly as old as I am. Never changed the fluid and it's still going strong. Now that they've moved to Chinese junk they last about a year on average. Same with the HF stuff. I've tried enough of the new stuff to know that if the hydraulics don't go out in the first year, they will break in weird places anyway.

Whether or not you buy the jack is no big deal but don't trust your life to it by getting under it without a good set of jack stands or what I use, 4x6s.

AC Hydraulic is your friend (if you have the $$$ to spend). I've got the long one and it's amazing. Never had trouble with it, and it reaches everything (even on my low low Civic)...

Here is a review of it and an even slimmer jack...

the orange low profile harbor freight tools steel jack is pretty good and costs about $80. the blue racing jack on the other hand is no good. it is weak and can't go up very high.
