Electrical, my focus was very broad though.. centered on systems and comms (dsp, wireless, RF, coding). I also did device physics and comp sci.
I basically took every math and engineering course I could take out of self-interest. I maxed 21 credits a semester to get the most value, even audited some courses when the dean wouldn't approve more courses

Too many engineers mang.. it's important as a life skill and to advance ourselves to the next level (AI - robots killing us all)
But.. I'd do it all again, and follow my ese into med school. He was always trying to get me to go too..
He just heard on Monday that he placed, on Friday, he'll know where he's going..

One 100 year old Chinese fucker gave me an C on a test because I crossed out my original proof on a main problem and restarted (I made simple arithmetic error).
My proof and answer were right, but because I had crossed out the original... no credit. He was always going on about how Math is art.. Fucking cunt.
I also had this incompetent diff eqs / lin alg prof who was bipolar. Fucking gave me a B+ for the class even though I got all A's on the test and HW. Said he needed a cutoff..
Had some shit about only giving 2 A's a class. I complained to the Dean but he fucking laughed.
School is bullshit in many regards.. I just laughed at the notion that they don't get any pussy and all they can do is watch.
My ese who is in med school.. he had a prof out for him. He complained about grading, complained to dean and then had that teacher tell him grading is subjective (pretty much saying he's going to fail him if he continues)
Well that prof was a hunchback creepo (PhD from MIT but couldn't get punani if he paid for it), he was creeping on this fine Korean girl who was outside in student quad.
My bro goes up and says, you ready babe? (his gf), the prof was so jealous.. he was fucking mad son.. til this day we still joke about that.
Trick!

I give major props to those who are able to go back to school, especially when they have a family in tow. Much respect to them, and their horrendously droopy, sleep deprived eyes.
I work with a Consultant who's doing his MBA now. Full time engineer during the day with plenty of OT, full family life after work (with 3 kids, none are over 6 years), and cramming an MBA in between. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

Do school when you're young. Definitely before having kids.

UofA. He's local to here and put family before everything else. He's not looking to take over Google. Just wanted to further himself.
His company paid for half his education, but because of that, he's tied to them for at least 2 years after graduating, or he has to pay them back. I get the feeling he won't really be moving up the chain of command with where he works now, because of the MBA. He's a good engineer/PM, but I don't really see how his MBA will tie into his role with the company.

That's not true. We will have to agree to disagree, because I've met a few people with MBAs in nice comfy positions that didn't go to Ivy League (or similar prestigious) schools for their MBA. They don't complain about making 250-300k a year either ![Shrug](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif)
But then again, working for Alberta Health Services seems to be a haven for overpriced execs making crazy salaries. I'm sure every health authority in the country is the same. Tax payer dollas!!! :makeitrain:

When I was talented enough in piano, the rule was this: If I am serious about pursuing it, my list of music schools was on ONE hand...Peabody, Julliard, Eastman, Cleveland, and Indiana. Period. Everywhere else, quit. If I get IN, it MUST be with scholarship...cuz, even without it, it's irrelevant to get into those schools. MBA, same thing...must be in the Top 10 lists...or, irrelevant...ESPECIALLY since I'm
