Back in the day, oh, maybe '98, '99, somewhere in there; my GF took a flight somewhere and had a layover in Phoenix. She came back with a disposable camera (yeah, back when film was a thing) and a story about being in PHX and killing time walking around the terminals.
She walks into one of the gift shops and there's this black dude with chains getting hounded by all sorts of people, getting pictures taken etc. So she buys a disposable camera, likes up with ol' boy and gets a couple pictures. She says that he makes her cross her fingers on both hands and cross her arms when they take the photo.
She gets the film developed and shows me the picture and sure enough... I'm like, uh yeah, that's you making an "X" with your fingers and an "X" with your arms. And that's DMX! Arguably at the peak or early-peak of his career. She said he was a really nice guy and was super patient with everyone. Which made me laugh even more considering Ruff Ryder's Anthem was still getting airplay with him barking about "...mind your business lady, Nosy people get it too, when you see me spit at you, you know I'm tryin' ta get rid of you"
Then meth and prison and stuff. But yeah, I have a soft spot for DMX because of that. That and him wanting to celebrity box George Zimmerman.
