People have the capacity for so much evil. It is staggering.
I often joke around that if an alien species that is advanced enough to visit us really saw what we're capable of, it makes complete sense to me that they'd have no issues wiping all of us out.

This is actually a more profound statement than most people realize. It's also one of the main arguments against advancing AI - that they'll destroy us because it's the only logical solution since we're such scumbags. We make up these hypothetical scenarios, and the immediate conclusion we reach is to wipe out humans. The reason this is profound is because it's such a powerful statement on the massive burden of guilt we all carry. So, why do we have so much guilt? Where is it coming from? And what can we do to reconcile?

I spread some e-bj to counter the homosex going on in here.
I can't say I feel different than any of you. Not to trivialize past conflicts, but I feel more scared by inside terrorism than outside terrorism. It's one thing to pit red and blue, one country against another sorta thing and you can tell yourself "the guy on the other side of the planet is the bad guy, let's just keep him at bay" but when it's the guy living at the end of the street... gives me the chills. :/
