What do you guys get for vacation time? Here, engineering related companies generally start at 3 weeks (15 days). Every 8-10 years of service, you get an additional week, I believe.
That's a pretty shit climb. I thought you guys had all the good $$ and vacay?

In QC the minimum according to working laws:
Less than a year it's 1 day vacay per month of working at 4%
1 to 5 years 2 weeks at 4%
5+ years 3 weeks at 6%

It's not unusual for decent jobs to start with 3 weeks and get another one after 5 yrs and so on.

What the hell are those percents mean?

Is that a metric unit thing?

Good money and vacay in engineering?

I think it depends on the type of work one does. In project management, it is anything but beneficial for someone to have a bunch of time off. The company needs you there to manage projects! I could be wrong on the number of years required. Safe to say, I've never made it to 4 weeks off with any of my previous companies

Okay sugartits. I know hwut a cocknballs symbol is. I mean what the heck he was talking about in that context.

Makes no sense to only get 4 cocknballs a year. I meant, 4 cocknballs of *hwut*?

the amount of time worked per pay cheque, multiplied by the % = how much vacation time you have accrued for that pay period.

So, 40hr/wk * 4% = 1.6 hrs.
x 52 pay periods = 83.2 hrs = 10.4 days (at 8hr/day).

I'm not arriving at the 2 weeks/ year...

But me am not canada smrt. Me am pubic skool edumacated.

Oh. Weeks*

*where week is defined as work weeks and not, you know, a "week" the unit of measurement.

Got it. I've been re-educated. Thanks!

Sorry man, I really thought this was a common thing.
You guys probably write it differently because percentages are too metric or some shit.

Probably just semantics. I think in 7 day weeks...

Boss says, get this done in a week. I know I have 7 days, not 5.

Plus my vacation is just given in hours... Probably because we're all morons and would be drooling on HR's desk saying "where am my other hours at?"

2 weeks later, boss forgot what he needed from me. I continue my routine on AZ

My boss has been losing it the last year, can't keep track of projects. 50% of the time (that means HALF the TIME, where TIME is WORK HOURS cu2) he's running around the place looking for files with printed emails in them. It's funny and sad at the same time.

I don't think people in CA even actually work. It's all about sipping the starbucks, wearing sandals and taking 3 hours lunch breaks.
