J, thanks for the post

I know bruce sells the A-spec kit for under $900, but add 40% to that because of the horrendous exchange rate, plus shipping such a big product, cross border. I can't imagine it'll be less than 2k. I don't NEED the kit. It's just nice to have.

Adam,

10k..... If you put 2-3k of work into it you will still have a Type-S for 12-13k.... Jump on that, do you have any pictures of it so we can get a better look at it?

pictures are crap, but you can see them here. The ad says 11.5k, but he said he wants the car gone and will sell it for 10k cash.

http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/c...ationFlag=true

You can also see the rear bumper damage in one of the photos. It's on the driver's side of the car.

Like I said, my concern is I don't know what needs fixing or replacing on this car. He doesn't want to take it for an inspection because he said at 10k, someone just needs to take it from him. Bad news?

He's had it up for sale 4 times now. He said he always has teens come look at it, with sob stories and no money. I'm skeptical too.

He SEEMED really honest and straight forward about everything, but who really knows.

And you've had Acura do a PPI? Maybe this is the gem you're looking for..

He doesn't want to take it for a PPI. He just said "well, considering the price, I just want it gone. I don't want to put insurance back on it and drive it there, sit around, etc"

I just told him- no inspection, no purchase. I'm not willing to take that risk. I dunno how a manual Type S isn't selling

What's a ppi run? Couple hundred? If you're really serious, it might be worth offering him the cost of the PPI plus $50-100 for him to get his lazy ass out and get it done. $300 loss upfront to protect $10k on the back end would be smart.

Or just buy it and flip it here on BM. I'm sure no one will shit their pants about that.

But yeah, sounds 2G2BTru as the kids would say.

I still don't know canuckistan geography, but is there anyone local-er that could go check it out and maybe take it for inspection? Or is homeslice out in the boonies or something?

homeslice is in Calgary, which is about 300km (200ish miles) from me. I don't know anyone car savvy in Calgary though.

Like I said, I told him I wont buy the car without a PPI. I think they're generally about 1 hour worth of shop labor, so $120ish. I told him if it comes back clean, or relatively clean (I can understand something minor), then I'll pay for it. He said he didn't want to.

I've since messaged him and said that I won't buy without the inspection. Haven't heard back.

A buddy of mine asked me what exactly I'm gaining by switching cars. The list was fairly short, from what I can gather..

28hp more, nicer headlights, newer Navi (I can't update mine past 2014- Acura stopped making the orange discs), better bolstered seats, back up cam, slightly nicer interior (minor things). There might be more, but it wouldn't be much. I have a better exhaust, I have the A-Spec suspension and upgraded RSB already...

Yup, I told him I'm no longer interested. Seems pretty stupid of him not to want to call his insurance company up and get insurance put on the car for one day. It literally would take him 4 minutes to do so.
