Don't care what people say...I would so hit it with a GT-R.

Tacoballs, you should totally buy a GTR and a reciprocating saw - DIY convertible.

Taco is a DINK...so, yeah...I can imagine him getting a GT-R if he spends wisely to balance the cost of ownership.

I don't necessarily want a convertible. They are nice and they are fun, but a solid roof is much better for rigidity purposes. Yes, there are convertibles with a fairly stiff chassis, but then they have additional weight in order to do so, over their solid roof counterparts.
My only reason for never ever wanting to even consider a GTR, is the transmission. I simply do not care how much faster it is.

Summers are short. And between that, when the weather IS decent, you have to wait until they actually CLEAN the roads because the city LOVES to dump sand/dirt...and oh, let's not even get into the air quality in that region. I recall it's amongst the WORST in all of Canada.
So, other than 1 week maybe you get where it's ideal...you are dealing with dirt/dust, or winter, or allergens in the air (add to that smoke from Fort Mac). Don't see the point for anyone living in that city.

LOL...to be honest, where you live, I do NOT at ALL understand the point of convertibles.

Roads are generally clean by end of May, this year it was by end of April. That leaves good driving until October, sometimes November it's a summer only car, so it doesn't matter if it's a convertible or not. It won't see ugly weather anyway.
Dirt and dust are unavoidable. Even once the roads are clean, driving with the top down will net you a dusty interior within 30min. My buddy carries a microfiber cloth in his s2000 and wipes the interior every time he gets into his car. I'd be surprised if this was different anywhere else.
But yeah, we do use a bunch of sand in the winter, but hey, what choice do we have, I'll take that over excessive salt.
I had the top down on he miata, a good 120 days last year, if not more. Just can't be a pussy

I remember that article. There was a lot of shit stirred up by it when it was written.
All I Can say is that it is very rare to see a haze across the city scape. It looks like that article was talking about downtown in particular. We do have hazy days, but most often it is caused by forest fires around Alberta/BC/wherever else.
I don't spend much time downtown, but I can see it even though I work and live 20km away and it's pretty much always clear to see
there is some good news though- much to the dismay of the ultra conservatives (), the NDP have made plans to take the coal fired power plants offline sooner than later, and to be replaced with something much more environmentally friendly.

Anyways...I know what you mean about the smog/haze. I think it's more related to the dust/allergens in the air than the smog from cars. Then again, with all those giant@$$ pickups, maybe?

Listening to my typical podcast Above & Beyond's Group Therapy and they have a new guest mixer every episode. This episode I was #159 had a young lad from Edmonton named Alex Klingle. Fuck he makes some amazing beats:
Just thought of you because of the Canada portion Adumb. Don't know if any of you guys are into this sort of muzak. His mix starts at the 1:30:00 mark

LMAO, no sir...
it's an old Cheech and Chong movie. The police chief was smoking the confiscated goods and blowing the smoke on his pet iguana.
As the movie progressed, he started turning INTO a lizard!
I'm shocked you haven't watched them.

It was hilarious...
I remember a scene where they visit this guy growing it in an empty pool...he has a blue tarp over it to look like water...well, it tears and the DEA helicopter is passing overhead so cheech gets on a ladder on his belly and pretends like he's swimming.
The later ones got kinda weird when they introduced some blow, a blowie under a table, and a jealous husband showing up to a hotel where cheech is naked on the glass elevator.
