And you just took your plate with you on carry on? Lol
I would totally be ok with that as well to be honest. But I've read it's better to drive without a plate at all instead of 'falsifying' one like that.
I'd rather have a regular plate and not attract any attention to begin with though.

I just felt like at least it was MY plate (and from a TL, no less...)
I feel like even I notice when I see a car without a plate from a distance, so cops definitely would. Best case would be if you had a buddy that could throw on one of those transporter plates.
Yeah, I had the plate in my bookbag with my laptop.

I may just do what J did unless the bank tells me something specific. I have all the other proper paperwork. And it would probably save me like an hour.
I'd LOVE to be on the road by 10AM. Meeting him at his office at 9. 15 hours or so home puts me in around 2AMish Saturday? I'd say as long as I'm home by 8AM and can sleep a solid 6 before going to Cleveland for the concert I'll be good.

*I* wouldn't mess around with swapping one of your existing plates on a new car. That has potentially higher repercussions than just going without.
With another vehicles plate, you are in violation of the law. And knowningly so. Hypothetically speaking, it might get resolved amicably and you might be able to rationalize it to a cop, but it's risky.
Going without, you're technically not violating any laws since you're in transit from a private party sale (where the seller cannot issue State temporary plates) to your state of residence. Typically States state that you must register the vehicle immediately upon receipt of the title (and Ohio does) or upon transferring the vehicle in the state. Which you will technically be doing, it's just a long transit from where you bought the car to the DMV or tax office or wherever.
As long as you have a bill of sale and/or the title showing the recent sales date, you shouldn't have any hassle - legally.
But YMMV.

Thanks cul0... that's what I thought. But man I feel like I'd rather not attract any attention at all!
I'll see what the bank says at lunch and then call the Ohio DMV and see what they say.

NOt sure if this helps:
State of Ohio BMV
I'm sure you found this already but it doesn't clarify much..
TRANSFERRING AN OUT-OF-STATE TITLE TO OHIO
In order to register a vehicle and obtain license plates in Ohio, an out-of-state title must be converted to an Ohio title.
For dual ownership, both parties must be present, unless a power of attorney is provided.
Social Security numbers are required for all parties.
Photocopies of a title are not accepted.
If your lienholder has your title, you must complete a transfer request form and send it to your lienholder. Please contact a County Clerk of Courts Title Office to obtain the form.
For out-of-state leasing dealers, a leasing permit number and a valid Ohio use tax account number (99-XXXXXX) are required.
Prior to completing the title transfer, the transferor and transferee must verify the accuracy of the odometer listing and all other information on the certificate of title.
What Do I Need to Bring to the Title Office?
Out-of-state title certificate
Acceptable identification (please contact your County Clerk of Courts Title Office for details) and payment for title fees.
An out-of-state VIN inspection; inspections can be obtained at any Ohio deputy registrar license agency (click HERE for current fee) or new car dealership (call ahead for fee)
A lien release from your lien holder if you don’t have the paper title showing lien discharge signed by your lienholder
For lease transactions only, two original powers of attorney from lessor (one to obtain an Ohio title and one to obtain vehicle registration and license plates)

Can't you just roll with the Florida plates until you get to Ohio. I know in Cali, you can roll around with plates from a different state for 30 days I want to say...
But YMMV.

Is anyone posting from their phone?
When I hit post quick reply it freezes up. Then I have to close safari and open Acurazine up again. Once opened I can't edit previous posts. What the fuck man!
So put a question mark after Ohio on my previous post.

I've always kept my plates because F'em.
One of the few things Tejas does right is that you can go print off a temp plate for like $5 from the DMV to get you up and running for a couple days for just this reason.
When I sold my truck to out-of-state guy, I pulled my plates right after handing him the keys. I told him I would pay for a temp plate to get him back home and he was like "nah, I'm rolling with nothing. FTP. I got the bill of sale which is good enough if the po-po's roll up"
And I was like "mah, ninja!"

Yes, I'm getting it on my desktop too. I'll reply and then see my reply like 100 times. Refresh the page and it's fine.
But, I'm using this Garage talk app now that buffetboi recommended and I actually like it over the browser.

I've had bad luck with the track setting... Love the way the car feels, however, there's a bracket coming off the strut that's broken on me twice. Well... it was already broken when I bought the car, then I replaced it and it broke again. No damage to subframe and that bracket is only $15 to replace, but it's just annoying. I'd keep it on the softer setting.

getting the same freezing issue, might have to try that garage talk app....

You best be careful before he throws your ass in jail for talkin about him behind his back.

so I'm not the only one getting the freezing issue? Always have to close and reopen the browser, whether on my phone, computer or tablet. Super annoying.

It actually was fairly easy to replace. I had to undo a few suspension bolts and, if I remember correctly, separate the suspension from the strut to get it off, but it really wasn't that bad.
