Wow some of those TLX guys are hanging on for dear life to that sinking ship called NavTool.. I've had my fair share of bad kickstarter/crowdfunding types.. I've learned when to quit while I'm ahead.. those optimistic bastids..
I'll just eventually integrate that Nexus 7 I have lying around into my car for Waze. Right now, my iPhone screen and waze will suffice. I don't even use the navi screen anymore
People were saying it wouldn't seat properly because in 2004, the TL didn't have TPMS, and as the 8.5's were made for the '04, the sensors may not fit properly and needed some dremeling/MacGyvering to get it on successfully.
No, I know for a fact Austin and Chip had similar issues with the snap off portion of the valve not snapping off...something like that. I've never personally messed with TPMS but I'll need a set to put in the Advan.
Apparently, so I've learned, it's very easy to make non TPMS wheels fit TPMS. I remember this came up and a bunch if guys said they used some kind of stringer system, or something. I dunno. But it can be legitimately done, without some back alley method.
I know right? Mount and balance is part of it. But it's not a standard color it's that LFA color which is like a hyper hyper silver. And apparently the "hyper" part of "hyper" silver is very expensive.
Still, I was thinking it was going to be $300...
Also they were curbed up pretty bad... Like bad bad.

Banding.
The sensor is banded to the center barrel of the wheel with a strap type contraption and you just use a normal valve stem rather than a TPMS/stem.
To me, that actually sounds like the better solution from a weight balancing standpoint as the mass is located closer to the center of rotation. Not sure why it's not the default way of doing it really.
I'm not sure I didn't inquire about methods. I just said make them look brand new and match the color exactly. I even took in my original receipt from 6 years ago so they could hopefully pull the color. When I found that this morning I finally felt like a responsible adult.
I had the brushed metal metrorestylings...wrapped the sides with it. It sucked and since it's metal, it breaks before it stretches nicely. Maybe 3M is better.
Check out MetroRestyling. Dot com or eBay and they should be able to send you some samples of all the ones you're considering, for a nominal fee.
Great idea!
