Such a cute pupster!!

I've always been a cat person. I know, I know, I'm the devil, I'm a terrible person, I should be stoned to death, blah, blah. I just like their independence as opposed to a dog's neediness.

The wifey has always been a dog person. I've always said "nope!" To dogs, but something has changed... And now I want a dog of my own

Not sure when we'll bite the bullet- probably in the spring time I'm thinking. I'm a bit worried that a dog will effectively ruin one of our cats. She's a major sketch case around other animals- I don't want to bring one animal home and push another away. I know the first few weeks will be rough, but I'm sincerely hoping she can grow to love the dog over time. Or at least accept it, lol.

The funny thing is- men are a lot like cats. Independent, hunters, when the significant other is gone and comes back, guys are like "oh. Hi." And return to whatever they were doing, don't like a lot of attention, cuddly- on their own terms, etc, etc.

Correction - sociopaths are a lot like cats.

Cats are warm and affectionate only when they want something - mostly, treats. Cats will scratch the hell out of you with the least bit of remorse. Cats are the only animal that will take a shit in your house, bury it, then let you find it when the stench is too much to bear.

Therefore, cats are the asshole of the domesticated animal kingdom.

Dogs at least have the decency to shit on your rug, then lay right by it - or in some cases on it, like an egg - and take the blame.

I do hope you get one and they get along with your cats though, Adam.

Er, no, a cat will not shit just anywhere. The beauty with a cat is the first and only time you put it in its litter box, it knows to shit in that box alone. I've never had issues with cats shitting all over the place. Dogs you have to train for months.

Also, cats aren't big on treats like dogs are. They enjoy them, but they won't "love you" just to get some. One of my cats, every fucking morning, comes pawing at my head (without scratching) because she wants to lay beside me under the covers, and spoons into my stomach. Sweetest thing ever. And so nice and warm, lol. Both of our cats, plus the cats my brother's family has (they have three, lol), are as affectionate as fuck.

Yes, they bite and scratch, but everything about a cat is designed to kill. They're crazy hunters. Dogs are inherently scavengers (save for a few breeds) and even eat their own feces in times of low/no food, to recycle the vitamins and minerals again. Lovely.

There are a lot of misconceptions about cats, many times based on "oh I knew this one cat that used to", well, that can go for any animal. Don't get me wrong, dogs are pretty damn fantastic, especially since you can go outdoors with them, unlike cats. But cats really aren't that bad.

Well Adam, what I gathered from that story is that it was probably a lot easier to let your parents know you were :ghey: by owning cats.

Also, I agree..many misconceptions about both animals. They are a product of their environment. I always get annoyed when people make dogs out to seem like they're dumb. My dogs have demonstrated some keen skills and bafflingly quick ability to use logic to determine a projected response (I fk with Kali all the time and it's insane how she'll pick up on the pattern of which side of the couch I'll come out on next...even more so...I generally snooze 4 times in the mornings. Not 2, not 3...but 4...she doesn't BUDGE until it hits the fourth time ringing at which point she gets up and stretches like, cmon nukka...time to get up. Can she count? I don't know...

All of this is why I have a "my dog is an honor roll student at k9 high" bumper sticker on my TL.

Dogs are dumb? Mmm...sure, you could say those "gimmick" dogs (i.e. the breeds those high-maintenance women go carrying around in their LV bag) are dumber than a sack of bricks...

BUT, generally speaking, dogs are darn smart. And smarter than even people at times. Just do a scan of the news headlines regularly and you have a few dozen examples of idiots dumber than animals...

Or even dogs saving people...I trust my dogs when it comes to their senses too. If they don't like someone...I don't like someone. They smell shady right through the person's pores.

those little ones in the LV bags...get spa days, get fed people food, and get carried around by rich white people. Not sure they're as dumb as you think...

Unless they are pissed off for some reason, probably because they're cats, in which case they'll go where ever they damn well feel like.

The 5am wake up pounce is typically reserved for treats or food.

That's not cute. That's annoying.

Which is precisely the reason I don't want them in my house.

Dogs know their limits, they will eat what they can. I think it's called being a survivalist.

To sum up, dogs > *, and * > cats.

fuck.. husband and wife preggos.. 24 weeks. Need emergency c-section, wife dies. Husband promises wife that he'd sing to their son Lennon when he was born because he'd move around when he heard music. Son dies hours after his father played to him.
