The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (Part 2)
Damn right!
Counting down to 4:00 and then it's off to the track!
Also, Ryan and I get to store a pretty special car for the next two weeks, which means I get to drive it a bit. A BMW friend of mine bought a Euro-spec E34 M5 (came with a bigger 3.8L motor, we only got the 3.6) and needs a place to park it for two weeks.
Can anyone say ITBs, 8k redline and fully custom exhaust?!

if lemon laws are there to help you incase you do get a lemon, why not take advantage of it?

I'll have my GoPro at the ready...
Unfortunately this car isn't going to be mine, just holding on to it 'til Thanksgiving. I've driven a few of the 3.6's though (and owned an E34 535i, which was a less batshit-insane 3.4 with 210 hp)... the M5 motor is derived from the old M1 racecar motor and good lord, the noise and the pull... it's like the power band of an S2K with the torque of a freight train.
Any thoughts on this? I'm with some of the commenters in that I think Acura kinda lost their way after the 1st-gen TSX, 3rd-gen TL, RSX, etc.

You're not a car guy
A performance brand needs a flagship and it needs an accessible sport car. Not a sports car, but a sport car.
My biggest complaint with Acura is this - they don't have their own platform to build upon, and until they do, they will continue to build tarted up Pilots, Accords, and Civics

I bought the S2000 instead of his M3 for 2 reasons. Betty did tell me that it would feel like I had 2 daily drivers instead of a weekend roadster like I'd originally pitched. I agreed there.
The saddest part is this...it was beautiful, lowered, black and 6MT. Came already with staggered 19" Racing Dynamics wheels in perfect fitment and he had done most of the maintenance work on it. Here's the part that steered me clear...he's a high school friend of mine that is an Engineering degree and has been wrenching longer than me. He could change clutches and do major engine work himself.
He told me that over the course of his ownership he'd put nearly 10K into it doing his own work and getting parts at cost. He said that didn't include anything major, just replacing bushings and maintenance. He told me that even with being able to do the work, the car spent as much time on jacks as he spent enjoying his labor. He pleaded with me that as his friend, he would not let me buy the car from him. That was enough, I trust and respect him. I am sad that it didn't happen though...that car was gorgeous, at the very least if I had bought it it wouldn't be totaled in a yard now. Fkkkk...

They take 10W-60 oil (8 quarts for a change) that you can typically only get online or at the dealership. Rod bearings are a routine maintenance item every 100k or so. The motor needs manual valve adjustments every few oil changes. Rear subframes are poorly reinforced and known to tear out of the floorpan, requiring an expensive fix (local shop charges $1,700 to reinforce and fix tears up to 1", any bigger and you pay more). The 6MT is fantastic, but a lot of folks got the car with "SMG" which was BMW's first stab at an automated manual gearbox. Driving an SMG feels like getting kicked in the back by a mule between shifts. Oh, and if that pump goes out, it's an expensive fix.
Don't get me wrong, they are really fun... but where the E36 M3 was basically a bored-and-stroked-and-camshafted 328i, the E46 M3 has a needy, high-revving motor and the ownership cost to match.
The S2k basically requires one to keep oil in it, and replace the tires occasionally.

That Acura exec is full of shit. They fucking scrapped the V8 project. They discontinued the 2.3 Turbo.. fuck Acura. Why don't you suck a bag of cocks and get back to us.

My one college roommate had a 350Z and I liked the 370 quite a bit more.
Oh, and if we're posting photos of ourselves, here's me and the dude. I'm not a million feet tall, I was just standing on the door sill of the M3. Didn't realize it looked goofy until we got home.
I'm in the high 90% straight, however, he does have a nice smile. And, damn J, you are capable of changing your look drastically! Work pic looks business, and bandana looks like a guy that just broke out of jail.. Lol! Betty did good! She got like 4 guys in one!

Hell yes, but the bukake parties she has me hold where I'm playing all for guys at once leaves me so tired and my sack looking like a damned raisin!
Thanks, man...
Yeah, I get bored easily...I'll randomly shave my head or make a weird mustache and then a week later, it's gone.
