The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (Part 2)
It's a hot rod and looks decent.. but in terms of performance.. the G8 GXP is our holden ve commodore. Fucking thing is wicked all around. If I could get the sportwagon version, I'd be set.

I doubt you'd sell it for 7k, but again, that's not the point. At a certain point a car becomes a viable option for many many people. At 5k I'd be hesitant. At 3.5k, I'd be definitely considering it.
I wouldn't look at that car as a smart investment. I don't look at any car as a smart investment, lol. Even those Ferraris that sold for like 1000x more than their original purchase price, because you never know what will happen down the line and if something will become valuable.
Like I think rockstar said, I'd look at it as a YOLO car. At that price it's easily accessible to many people. Even if you take a 500 hit on it, who cares. When will you ever have a chance to drive a car like that again- the fact it is just a metal tub with an engine and 4 wheels is what makes it awesome.
Also, at 3k it becomes a car that guys would consider taking home and restoring. Would I do that with a 7k car? Probably not. Would I do it with a 3k car? Why not.
Either way, it's cool you considered it anyway!

^add me to list of working Saturday's!
I would Love a G8 GXP in manual! let alone the sport wagon/El Camino look alike that they get over in Australia!
They sound so Good, and don't attract attention like some other cars! Kinda Sleeperish!
This looks interesting! I guess it's possibly going to create competition for the T-Rex. Polaris Slingshot......

It would be a Great fun run around toy! (Classified as a bike tho, so you need a motorcycle license) I have my endorsement, so no worries. Just don't have 24K sittin around!
Also, it would need to be in tha garage, for me (only have two car). More expensive than a golf cart tho! Lol!

It's only a liability if you don't have insurance
How are the house markets where you guys live? I'm currently developing a legal basement suite in our house so that some other sucker can pay my mortgage
Rentals go like bananas here in Edmonton. The vacancy rate is less than 1%. Hoping to buy another property in the spring

Housing here is on the uptrend again, was glad to get in when we did. A rental that pays for it would be IDEAL!
Spent a good part of the day knee deep in muck and praying that I didn't get eaten by the 9 foot gator they've seen in my canal...clearing up some of the taller grasses/weeds that had killed the view. Gonna be great to drop a canoe/kayak in there and go watch the sunset...that canal connects to the main one out to the Everglades.

Also, swapped a ballast on the 1 of 3 dual 8' fluorescent fixtures in the garage...should be a good place to polish a car now. Installed deeper hand me down kitchen sink, moved the light switch and light for the attic and fixed up various other things in addition to unpacking. I'm dead today!

I'm with crabs on this. If I can flip a car for more, I'd do it. I look once a week to see what's in the market. If it's a cool car, even better. The thing is to be patient and buy the right one. Something easy to flip, know your demographic and market.

J, you also have to understand that property tax in TX is astronomical. Say crabs buys a house out in Sugar Land for $250k @ 4.5% w/ 20% down. His mortgage will roughly be $1013.
His property tax will be $730.
Still think it's an investment? Now that value will fluctuate based on appraised value, but it's more than likely going to trend higher than lower for that area.

My parents built their house in '93 for 170k. After 20 years, they sold it last year for 422k. Granted, if you're moving into another house, you're paying just as much to get into it, so technically you're not exactly making anything. However, if you have income properties and sell them off, you can do quite well. Everything comes with risk though.
