The GT-R is modestly upgraded, but the real reason for the price increase is margin. Demand is high, so up goes the price!
You can't find a first gen GT-R for less than $55k unless it's been wrecked.. and that's high miles. 60-100k miles. I can find a first gen E60 M5 for $20k though.

I read the Road & Track ga-ga-ga-lovefest of the Porsche that was posted yesterday. It...seems a bit myopic. And when people try to compare it to the GT-R, they forget that for the price differential, I can probably buy a used NSX too and possibly an S2000.

Now, I live in one of the most unforgiving climates on the planet (no joke)...There are peeps here who drive their GT-Rs year round. Even when it is blizzarding. I know you could probably pull that off in a Porsche too...but, it's still damn impressive the Nissan supercar can be a 365 day car up here.
