I'm watching the news laughing at the fools trying to make it up hills. So far almost 200 crashes and one 20-25 car pileup.

Just screw ups who hadn't had their shit together by the time they became adults. Coogler honestly portrayed the last hours of Oscar's life, with the exception of the pitbull scene and the weed dump. The pitbull scene is symbolic of black men in society, especially the inner-city. The weed dump was symbolic of Oscar turning things around which his girlfriend and mom both shared.

Most of the details are real.
Certainly NOT what I was getting at...I'm not saying ANY of it was untrue, I just didn't buy the emotion they try and invoke. I enjoyed the movie, very much...just would have been a little more "real" to me if the day he was murdered he had kicked a dog and stolen a kid's lollipop, is all. I promise you I don't sugarcoat my words...I don't say thug if I mean anything but thug.

You want real J.. yeah, kicked a dog and stolen a kid's lollipop would have justified his murder. What the fuck are you getting at?

I get the feeling you think I'm justifying the end result? Or saying something like that he deserved it!?!

Honestly, bruh (I've been spelling it like that ever since the movie BTW), I cried when he died in the hospital. Sucky sucky sucky and I think it's total BS that the cop got off with 11 months for good behavior.

I just didn't like how perfect and angelic they made him seem. To take my point further, honestly...I wouldn't have gotten shot (and no, not ONLY because I look like a white boy). I respect authority, and if it's being abused there are better/smarter ways to combat it later. You could tell the cops were agitated, racist and looking for a reason to do something...in those situations, STFU and live to fight another day. A lot of what ifs...those are just my raw, initial thoughts on it. Maybe I haven't been openly and personally exposed to the injustice as much as you.

Yeah, selling dope, cheating on his girlfriend, fighting with his boss, fighting in public, being a felon is angellic.

Maj....THIS honestly is the truest words you have spoken....

some cops tend to show they have authority over you and by resisting and standing by your rights, you are only making it worse for yourself...

I have understood to just say "Yes Sir"..."No Sir it will not happen again" even when I am not at fault to cops who tend to show tooo much authority....

I was pulled over about a year back for making a wide left turn....the left turn lane was a 1 lane...but you merge into a 2 lane street and I wanted to go in the plaza on the right...so I indicated left....made the turn in the left lane, indicated right and got in the right lane to enter the plaza...

the guy pulled me over and was literally screaming at me...he took his gun out couple times and kept asking me if I had drugs in the car...

I told him I can step out and he can search the car if he wanted....just by the look of his face seemed like he was on steroids....he ended up giving me a ticket for "going in the wrong lane" which was perceived as driving in the opposite lane...

I didnt question anything, said sorry and drove off....I would have stood up for my rights but I didnt want to end up in prison OR DEAD !!!

I'm pleasant, but I don't give them the right to do anything. Search my car, get a warrant. I don't have anything to hide, but I like my rights, and if you like them, you need to exercise them. If they arrest you, don't say shit other then I want an attorney.

Trust me, my father was in law enforcement for over 30 years. He broke so many people into telling him intel or shit to put them / others in jail for a long time. It's amazing how stupid people are.

My father was also arrested at his compadre's wedding by LA Sheriff when he was a young man. They came to break up a peaceful party. They assaulted him and others, and threw him in jail. His bail was set at $500. His family and friends didn't have the money to post his bail and didn't let them know he had $400. My father never swears, is super conservative, never raises his voice, and is also a vietnam vet. They let him sit in jail for 3 days before being released, no charges.

As far as I'm concerned, shit cops like those BART officers can't suck my balls. They don't get my respect. Damn the consequences.

i try to make it seem obvious that am ready to cooperate...i roll my windows down, turn on the lights on the inside, turn my car off, have my license and insurance ready so I dont have to reach into my wallet....

Don't get me wrong, I have great respect for police officers. But I know my rights. I roll my windows down, turn lights on as well. License, insurance and registration ready once they tell me what I've been pulled over for (if I reasonably believe I have done nothing wrong). I don't give anyone my ID on the street unless they are lawfully detaining me.

i never found any literature on Texas laws about ID's and identifying yourself.

so, you're saying I dont have to show ID unless detained?

^^^ think he is sayings, he doesnt show Id unless they tell him what they pulled him over for...

they cant just pull you over...there has to be a reason tint/speeding/jumped a stop sign....they cant just pull you over since you are driving a modded car....

I did read something about that recently and it did mention they have to give you a justifiable reason to pull you over...

No one has the right to detain you, search your person or property unless a crime is involved or suspected. You don't have to identify yourself or say anything for that matter. Not where you're going, where you're coming from, etc. At the same time, you don't have to be a douche. Just say, officer, I know my rights, I'm a private person, if I'm not being detained in suspicion of a crime, I would like to go on my way. Either they charge you or let you go on your way. Simple as that.

Now if they charge you for something, throw you to the ground and stick a baton up your bottom. Get it on video.

If I know I'm wrong, I'm not a dick about it. I comply. If I were caught speeding, I know I'm wrong and immediately spread my cheeks.

Fine, then I didn't LOVE the movie because it had a slightly "B movie" quality about it.
Better?

I will say this though...the wife and the friend's wife on NYE can both get it and get it hard.

Whew, just caught up...agree with Maj, show respect but also educate yourself about your rights. The police have to have probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. Stopping for tint for example does not make you a pot smoker or dealer. They can ask to search your car but you can decline. If they have probable cause they can get a warrant.

^^^ I agree....but after watching all the police brutality caught on video, when I am not carrying any drugs, I dont mind saying "go ahead, knock yourself out"...rather than trying to exercise my right and get shot for "dude was reaching into his glove compartment and I shot him for self protection"

we know the kind of excuses they make for just pulling the trigger

You see, that's the loophole, if you look stoned, smell like weed or will set off a pot sniffing shepard, spread 'em. They can claim any of the above, even make a false positive indication like that dog search, giving them the right to search.

If you're trying to get past the police carrying some weight, be respectful, look respectful. Compliant but don't agree to search. If you get caught, just don't get any more charges added and don't say anything to them. Lawyer up.

My bro was carrying some big weight on him. Police walked right past him in the hallway at his sisters flat in the Bronx. They looked at him and asked him where he was going / coming from. He said my sister's apt. Then they went on their way (looking for a guy that just ran from them). At that point he said fuck this shit, focused on music and studies (became an engineer), but ended up playing music for a living. He smokes (rasta mon) but doesn't carry bricks anymore.
