If not on the pump, it's kinda of a hassle, as you have to bring insulin everywhere you go. Before pump it was 3-4 shots per day, now on the pump it's 1 shot every 3 days. Better control with the pump as well!
Taco-pump ain't cheap for sure. I believe my ins was billed $9600, and I had to pay almost 1K out of pocket. But aftr having it, I would never go back to shots.
Also, you can disconnect for all bedroom activities, wakeboarding, etc.....it really is a lot easier! I'd be interested to know how much your insurance would cover.

Poke on the finger, poke on one arm, draw blood from other arm. The worst is when it fucks up and in like a span of 15 seconds you end up with a multicolored bruise on your arm. Good times!

the finger pokey thingy hurts a bit, but it's like a 1.5/10 for pain. It's so quick you barely feel it, again, kind of like Maj's weiner

I really don't understand how people can go day to day without managing it. It's really not that hard and by not managing it, I feel like absolute shit. I've already come to terms with the fact that I won't live as long as non-diabetics, though. It sucks, but it's true. All I can do is keep on top of things to extend that time length as much as possible!

Taco-you should! In high school, I was like "how the fuck can I play basketball, waterski, etc...?". Now that I have it, it's Sooo much easier than shots. Plus, if you have a glucose monitor with the ability to send sugars to pump, it does all the math, and you just enter carbs you plan to eat, bam, figures it all out for ya!
I don't wear the optional sensor for every 3 min BS testing, that sends that BS reading to the pump. I just don't have enough fat to wear another sensor. Pricking finger is a lil easier.....

I really don't understand how people can go day to day without managing it. It's really not that hard and by not managing it, I feel like absolute shit. I've already come to terms with the fact that I won't live as long as non-diabetics, though. It sucks, but it's true. Get da pump! Most people who I've talked to, including one the company CEOs who is also type I, have a much more relaxed lifestyle. I agree J, but I still think there is a double standard...we have the occasional female stop by and I would think some would be offended by some of the comments/language etc. They might be intimidated and not complain...same as Jake...err :ghey:, they might be intimidated and not complain.

Problem I am having is, I want to make sure my charge nurses are Asian. That position is making $160K. But all 3 are whites. They like to boss the Asians around, and Asian's don't like that.
The Asians are also so respectful when they page me at 3am.
If I liked Asian women (I don't), my job would be heavenly
Out of 55 total employees, one we don't have is black. We will not, and never hire a black person.
Call me a racist, don't care. Its a fact. None of the partners will even interview one. At least I interview, and they always fail.
