The 87 is kinda odd because the audible continuity check is a second level feature. So nearly every time I use it, I set the dial and it won't beep because you need to push a button to get to the second function. Always makes me think the meter must be broken.

It's why I keep a set of tongs in the case with the DMM... Give those a couple clicks and it reminds me to set the second function.
