I just got pulled over

73 in a 70 WTF?!?!?!

It was a Tx state trooper and he was in the fast lane fluctuating between 70-75 with a huge pack of pussies afraid to pass. So i said F it and figured id lead the way to the promise land. I do an easy 73 and pass him slowly but surely. he immediately whips behind me and follows me for a few miles and i maintained 73. longer story short he pulls me over and says he cant have me passing him while he is doing the speed limit or else everyone around thinks "why isnt he doing his job" i agree but say mostly thats when its frequent lane changers and speeders of 10+ over. he let me go with a warning and i informed him he had a sunflower seed on his face. We tongued and i left.

The problem with going 70 is people in the left will match the speed causing a back up.

edit: also im excited for mizzou's first sec conference game this weekend

So the cop was "hanging" out in the passing lane. And that "LEO" is getting pretty nitpicky to pull someone over for going 3 over the limit, when most officers obide by the 5 over rule.

He just wanted to prove a point is all. I had this happen once but it was at night an the speed limit was 65 before it switched recently and the cop was going 65 in the fast lane. If you went one over he would flash his lights to intimidate you. So ghey.

I told him I know I could legally exceed the speed limit if I was over taking someone for a short period of time, but he still just wanted me to say he was right and I was wrong and the "limit" was 70 not 73.

Oh well.

its called a speed limit for a reason.

I agree that it's clear what the limit is but he was creating this huge bunch up of cars with people switching lanes like crazy back n forth and literally like 3 miles ahead of him with only a handful of vehicles. IMO all he was doing was creating a dangerous traffic jam on one of the most dangerous highways in the nation. To me that is way worse than doing 3 over the limit.

@ the video....i wish i could do that to slow ass mofo's infront of me....

i also agree that even 1 over the speed limit is an offense....they dont have a 10% or a 5mph leeway....the only reason they have that is because the radars they have suck ass....

that being said, i agree you def should not try to overtake an officer/other cars on the inside lane when an officer is right next to you or behind you....its just calling out for a ticket....

its not because the radars are inefficient, because they really are SPOT ON.
its at the LEO's discretion.
he can choose to let you go a little over or HE/she could be a dick and pull you over.

Matt was just at the receiving end of some one who wanted to show his power.
Luckily, he didnt issue a ticket.

^^^ i agree its on the cops discretion....if he is in a good mood he will let it slide else hit u up with a ticket(s).....

but in all honestly their radar sucks ass....by the time the radar signal hits your car and he receives it back, you could have sped up by 10mph or slowed down by 10 mph....

now laser on the other hand is spot on !!!

He was never going to give me a ticket for 3 over. We both knew that. He just wanted to flex on me and establish that he is the "law" (which drives 75 then drops to 70 then back to 75) which is fine I guess but just a waste of time. Let the traffic flow!

I like to hide behind big rigs or bigger vehicles when I'm speeding and see a 5-0. Been saved plenty of times. It's when your ahead of the pack doing 90+ that gets ya.

One cop told me "most go with the flow, your flow is to fast" but he knocked it from the 90's to 80mph on the ticket.

Heard from another that I went over the allowable 10% which would make it 77mph to legally drive and not get pulled over.

I would have gone to jury just to prove my point of how stupid it was if he would have givin me a ticket.

Maybe if you're excessively speeding in the front of the pack but trust me, you're just as vulnerable in the back of the pack. Stay somewhere in the middle.

Yep, 10% is the rule not 5mph.. so if you're in a 35.. that's 38ish. Of course there are certain parts of TX that tolerate 100mph.. but not 105.

Again. Texas.

Now I can say in all the times I drove across the I-20 more times than i can remember I have been pulled over about 7 times.
All with warnings. I do believe the troopers let me go due to having a class A cdl and no warrants.

Any other time I see someone pulled over in Texas the occupants are out of the car and 1 cop is searching the vehicle while the other is watching the occupants.

Eh, radars arent 100% accurate. But it really depends on the make of the radar. Instant on radars are very inaccurate. LiDAR is a completely different story.
