This is your state son, you don't know? E10 and E20..

I've been clicked going just over a buck on W10, no lights, between Htown and LA.. but a buddy of mine wasn't so lucky.

Thing about TX highways.. you can go fast when there's nothing around.. but play it safe and go slow through certain towns. There's a reason the local hick PD has brand new corvettes, camaros, etc..

TX is good and bad. Good if you want to be bad..

No way.. My father is a retired fed.. I lived enough of that life to know I didn't want to go down that path or put my family through it. It really takes over your life. Several occasions I've been by the bedside of officers that were shot, funerals for those killed in the line of duty. But the worst part is not really being around.. quality time was following some perp across 2 states. Going into an establishment to pull in some intel regarding certain people associated with the business or front end transactions occurring. I've been into hostess bars, strip clubs.. once you see some of the shady shit that goes down, it really changes your perspective on some of these places.

I have a hs buddy nearby that joined the local PD after leaving the core.. and all our family friends extend from LE offices across the country.. FBI, Customs (CBP), Border Patrol, ICE, Secret Service, State Dept. (diplomatic security), DEA, US Marshals, even RCMP, and AG's. I really admire what they do, but I saw enough to know I didn't want to live the same life. Pay can be really good.. plenty of engineers, lawyers change profession because pay and benefits is better in LE.

Also, there are dickhead cops everywhere.. just because you have a badge, doesn't mean you get a pass.

Just keep that in mind if you come across one. Be polite, courteous, know your rights and know that there's nothing stopping that LEO from violating yours at that moment. If they're willing to be a dick to other LEO's, just imagine what they would do to you.

My father was pulled over for going 1 mph over.. he showed the badge, stated his business.. was still given a ticket and a lecture. Of course the officer was looking to catch a bigger fish, probably profiled our vehicle and the occupants, but was content to giving my father the business doing so..

A good buddy of mine just took a desk job in DC. He met his wife in Syria, but she was there for a medical mission, she is from Australia

This was years before the turmoil now..

He has all these cool pictures with presidents, generals, heads of state.. it's fucking incredible. He has a baby girl now, so he's settling for a desk job.

We were dive buddies and he used to work with my father but was closer to my age. So we hung out more.. shit, he would send me dive photos from all over the world.. so jearous am I. I was originally going to join State Dept as a engineer. Secure communications at embassies and such.. but things change when you start to settle down. Would have been cool as fuck..

Any other time I see someone pulled over in Texas the occupants are out of the car and 1 cop is searching the vehicle while the other is watching the occupants.
Did you hand them conceal carry permit too? I've heard that's almost always a catch and release.. it lets them know you're not a felon and you like guns.. they're usually cool with that.

Reminds me of this:

A Texas Patrol officer pulled over an elderly lady speeding in her ranch pickup. The officer walked up to the truck and asked for her driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance. The old lady took out the required information and handed it to him. On top of her driver's license, the officer was somewhat surprised (due to her advanced age) to see she had a conceal carry permit. He looked at her and asked if she had a weapon in the vehicle.

She responded "Well.. I have a .45 automatic in my glovebox." By her response, the officer asked if she had any other weapons in the vehicle. The elderly lady admitted to also having a 9mm Glock in her center console.

Not satisfied with her answer, he asked one more time if that was all. She responded once again that she did have just one more, a .38 special in her purse. Astonished, the officer shook his head in disbelief. He chuckled, tilted his hat above his brow and asked the old lady, "What are you so afraid of?"

She looked him dead in the eye and said, "Not a fucking thing!"

Majofo, the Texas mile thing was a joke.

Come on son, you should know this man.

When I received my one and only DUIminor I was doing 107 on 290 heading to the backyard on 71. Passes sobriety test so he let a friend drive us home. Charges were dropped after probation, thankfully.

I have a huge speeding problem and I'm not sure how to control it

I know.. just busting your balls. :gheylaugh:

So many drunk drivers on this board.

Not worth it.. I'm sure you know better. I hope. Regarding speed, I tend to go over.. I'm always in the passing lane but I do it when it's relatively safe to others on the road and for my passengers and self. Tire pressure, road conditions, temp, visibility, traffic.. all plays a role. I'm not in a rush, it's just my comfort zone.. I know if I drove the speed limit or under it in the flow of the middle or right lane, I'd get to my commuting destination in only a couple minutes later, if that. I'm an aggressive defensive driver.

Not too many people like riding with me.. downshifting and carrying speed through turns.. early braking, sometimes hard on the brakes before a turn..

Always engine braking.. My biggest pet peeve are people who use their brake to control their speed or people who dagger the brake over and over on the freeway for no fucking reason other than they don't know how to control their vehicle and are oblivious to their surroundings.

Only thing worse are people dicking with their phones while driving. I beat your fucking ass!!!! Road rage much? nah..

I'm right there with you on all of that. I drive the same way but I hit 90 almost every day that I drive to Austin, always in an open stretch and one of my faults is being to damn observant but good for higher speeds.

The thing I can't stand the most (especially in atx) is when people jam on there brakes in traffic when we are all going 10-20mph and then you get a chance to see past them and they have like 4-5 car links between them and the next car. Yet they must jam on their brakes like they need that 80ft to stop from going 10. bunch of tards

Or dumb fucks who cross 2 lanes to turn into your lane even though you're the only traffic on the road.. and don't get on it when they pull out. Especially when they wait to turn.. then last minute, yep, I'm doing it. Aghh, you stupid son of a bitch.. I'll ram this bitch into you!!.

Sometimes it's an elderly person or couple.. I'm all like.. ...

Then I see them when I pass and I'm like.. Drive safe!!

I'm not sure I'd be so tolerant in FL.. I'd probably buy a big ass caddy and drive 20 under like in certain parts of Houston.
