3.5-3.7 Rebuild
I dropped a valve or something last weekend and have no choice but to rebuild or replace my motor. Since I have one of the preferred motors(J35A8), I'm torn between rebuilding or swapping things around with another block. I've read for countless hours doing research and still have a few questions. Once done building the motor, I'm planning to add 50-100 shot of nitrous. Have auto tranny so boost isn't an option. I'm hooking it up with a button to only be used once in 3rd gear to prolong the use before rebuilding the tranny.
Should I re sleeve the bad cylinder and use stock diameter pistons or bore out the minimum? 89.5 or 90.
I've found an 09RL with a J37A2. Will the heads bolt right on and as long as I swap oil pumps will everything function properly?
Will the crank and rods bolt in without any customization and will the stock j37 rods hold up to 500hp?
Does anyone know the differences between the TL and TLS 5at trannys if there are any? Trying to decide if I should just get the tranny rebuilt while it's already down. It's at 120k miles. Haven't had any luck finding performance parts since everyone uses MT for reliability.
Any help will be appreciated and I will try to keep things updated while I go through the process.

You have to replace the whole bumper. It came from Sarona for around 2G's. The led fog lights are Mercedes so really nice quality. The bumper isn't the same, but it's the best out of 3 different aftermarket ones I tried. Be prepared for a little trimming for perfect fitment. The body shop couldn't figure it out so had to install this one myself.

Weirdly my reply never posted and got lost. Much appreciate the info! I'd love to do similar (and those wheels!), but am not ready to replace the full bumper and deal with a custom job, especially at ~192k miles with an ongoing mysterious missfire issue.

Here's what's left to the spark plug pieces that broke off. Surprisingly it faild on it's own and all valves are intact. Looks like I'm sticking to 3.5. Still going to rebuild most of the motor and make a few upgrades while at it. Pistons, Cam, Springs, porting, etc..to come.

Thanks. I'm going with P2R 12:1 pistons and bisimoto on the springs. Haven't decided on the cans yet, but planning to reach out to web. Since I already have one of the bigger cams, I want to see what they can do to it without making the base circle so small. My concern with one of the off the shelf grinds is that they can make them out of a stock tl cam which means it could grind off alot of unnecessary material. Getting RDX injectors too so I can tune for E85 to be safe with the higher compression.

I got those p2r pistons too and China forged rods. Gonna use bisi springs as well. Thinking of going with halferland cams regrinds. Cant wait to see it.
