bulletproof tranny

what would i have to do to do just that. in the future i plan on running a turbo or s/c. would seriously love to do the 6spd swap and just that. doing the motor swap is more than i would like to do although having that much more power would be sweet. i know our trannys have an inherent problem with taking a shit on us. so besides sending it off to dr evil, would it be possible to have someone local do the work and swap out the not so great parts with killer parts? i know when i talked to dirty john he said he had his tranny built for his turbo application. he still has it and is for sale. but what i want to know what exactly is it that is at fault. i know the clutch packs go out. and im on tranny #3. i just dont want to be left high and dry when the day comes. i searched this topic and all i pull up is 6spd swap and dr. evil. or should i pay a crackhead to snake a 6spd cl-s (jk)

Was your last tranny replaced in or after March of 2005? The redesigned version is supposed to be much less likely to fail. Converting to manual is the only definitive way to get rid of the problem though.

Do your homework. There is no Bulletproof tranny. Even the Dr Evil failed and isnt recommended.
You can put the best parts in the world in 3rd gear and its STILL going to fail. They have to be able to get more fluid to 3rd gear. (and what they really need is larger clutchpacks, but thats not a possibility)

yeah i had read that before but on thier site it says you can order like a super evil tranny or some shit. i was just wondering what it was they did but i guess nm. ill be saving for the 6spd swap then. since i ahve to replace everything under the hood. really do wish it mated up with the tl-p motor. the 02 accord v6 is the same as the 03 and they came with the 6spd. that will fit the j32a2 so why wouldnt it fit on the a1. i dont have anything to compare to. ugh. damn this car

The 98-02 AV6 motor is 3.0L and I think it is rated at 200hp. Dunno if the manual trans from that car can handle 260hp as well as a CL-S trans can.

i was saying that the 03 uses the same core same block in other words. so the bolt pattern is the same. so assuming that tranny is interchangable with the j30 and j32 why wouldnt it fit the a1

from my understanding the j30 6 spd tranny can mate up with the j32a1 engine and the j32a2 6spd with a j32a2 enigine

Yes they mate up, but they dont come with the LSD, No LSD = Especially if you are planning on putting power down with a SC or Turbo

and a brand new 6spd from honda is 2424.86. less than half of what a cls tranny cost. how much did you guys pay for yours. i think i remember reading it was about the same. and i know it doesnt come with LSD. they have to sell that in the aftermarket presumably

you can find the CL-6 for 1300 or less (when they are available)

A aftermarket LSD can run between 1k and 1600. Find the tranny with it. It makes a BIG difference.

Has anyone attempted to retro fit a 3G TL auto tranny into a 2G? Is it at all possible?
