So you did a swap without researching what tranny you can use? I find that odd but too each their own. Not sure about our cars but I know for hondas they make an H to B conversion plate so you can bolt up a B series tranny to an H series motor. Not sure how the mounts would work though.

The bell housing of a B tranny will not fit into our engine bays correctly nor mount up correctly with an H2B plate, thus why it hasn't been done in our cars or accords yet. I'd recommend an M2B4 tranny or a T2T4 tranny because they both came with LSD and both have great gearing for the H series.

The H23's that came with the prelude are non vtec, the H23a out of the Honda Accord SIR in Japan came with vtec, and was upped to 2.3L from 2.2 for added torque by changing the stroke. The Head is the same as an H22, and the block also, but the internals such as the crank, pistons, rods, and a few other details are different. JDM H23a's never came with a number after the "a" on the block stamping, and the USDM H23's were also stamped with a number after the "a" such as "H23a1". That's how u can usually tell a JDM H23a from a frankenstein H23a.

If its an H23a and not an H23a1 it's not a frankenstein.

The m2b4 is a popular transmission. The OEM LSD is good for hard cornering and some drag racing. I'm considering the OBX LSD for my set up. It's a copy of the Quaife for less than half the price. It's almost required that you take it apart and clean up the rough edges, while shimming some of the gears. It's more aggressive than OEM but you have to do the QC to keep it from binding and possibly exploding in your transmission.

My H23a ran superbly till a screw fell out of my TB plate and fell into cyl1, so I rebuilt it bigger and better. The H23a motor is not a POS in general, but maybe you got a bad longblock.
