Hello does anyone know if I were to replace my DVD player in the trunk would I need the VIN or security code from the car it came from or would it just plug and play? I am getting the dreaded ‘please check disk” navigation error, and I already cleaned the laser with alcohol which didn’t help. My NAV disc is in good shape so I doubt that’s the problem. I looked into the latest disc update for my year TL (04) and looks like the 2014 disc will run me $100 from the AcuraNavi website. I figured if I pulled a cheap dvd rom from a junkyard or eBay I could try that before the new disc. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

 

You'll need the security code for the Navi if you disconnect the DVD drive.
You'll also need the security codes for the Navi and radio if the battery is disconnected or dies.

 

Yes I have the codes needed for my car. Are you saying I’ll need the codes from the donor car as well?

 

you will need a code for the new (replacement) unit.
