2007 Type S for $8,500?

I currently have a 2011 4G and I have never looked through the 3G section. I came across a Bright Blue TypeS today with the two tone leather interior. The owner says the title is clean and there are no issues. The car has 115k miles on it and the 100k service was done to it aka timing belt service. I'm a little skeptical about the car, being so cheap.

The engine is right, the color is right and everything looks right on the car. Is there anything that would be a tell tell sign this is not a TypeS? Like an option number on the glove box or a certain number or character on the Vin? Thanks

vin code:
ua7 = type-s
ua6 = base.

and 8500 is very cheap for that amount of miles.
there might be something wrong with the car....

Link?

That price is far too good to be true. Especially with the 105k service done.

If I decide to pass on the car I will post the info of the cars location. I don't want competition lol.
Yea, the 8500 has my second guessing the car, although a mint 2008 typeS with 80k on it sold for 10 grand down the street and I knew that one was legit. I remember when the guy brought it home brand new from the dealer.

$8,500 is extremely low, but maybe the owner just doesn't know what it is worth. I would have a mechanic look through the whole car.

I already have a Type S and don't live anywhere close to you. Because of that, I assure you I won't be stealing it out from under. You can PM the link if you want and I'll have a look.

I'd always suggest getting a pre-purchase inspection done prior to buying any car costing more than a few thousand, but especially for a TL Type S under $10k. I recently had a PPI done on a $19k '07 TLS with the odometer at 61,000. The Carfax was clean, but the inspector uncovered lots of repainting done, a new engine cradle, and serious issues with the steering. You would've never known just from looking at it, but the car had probably been in an accident or few. Carfax is worthless, always get a PPI!

I dunno about this one...that price is unheard of unless the owner truly is unaware of what the car is worth or he's trying to unload a bucket!

If it sounds too good to be true, then it must be.

The lowest priced Type S I saw around here with 132k miles was $12,000 and even then I was skeptical compared to what others were selling the same car for.

okay so since you dont want to post a link can you at least share some pics of the car? there's no way for us to know where the car is located if you just share pics

you sure you want to buy a 3G TL though? it also has an ELS sound system which you seem to not like.

What happened to the Taurus SHO to make you want to get a 3G/FWD TL with 100k miles? Seems a bit odd when you have/had a SHO and 4G/AWD and liked the larger size of the SHO and all the electronic features it has. There is almost no way the TL-S is without serious issues for that price- that car should be at least 15k if it isn't trashed.

I guess you missed the part about flipping it for profit, but that's ok from our past conversations, I understand your reading comprehension is non existent.

I'll post pics when I get a chance, I most likely will flip it or DD and put the mileage on it. The 142 mile round trip is killing my truck and 30 bucks a day isn't friendly to the wallet. It's costing me 720 a month in gas, that doesn't include tolls.

I bet it's a typing error and they forgot to add a 1 in front of the 8 to be $18K. I've seen this happen before and seen a dealership honor the deal. But I've also been fooled and went to buy a car at a steal only to find out they were false advertising and never had that car for sale. They just used it to get people into the dealership.

8500 for that one and 10K for the 08 are all dirt cheap for legit type s with no major issues. I need to move or shop for cars where you live. I got my -08 type s with 92K for 14500

I definitely think that is a typo, but run over there and make them pay for it!

BTW all these small dealers around the area get almost all their inventory from auctioned cars. They will throw the Carfax in your face without you asking but the truth is you have no idea where these cars come from. Odometers, salvaged/flooded/recovered/repossessed/abused cars come in there all the time and many of these dealers define the word "shady". Their goal is to get the in demand high end cars that the image conscious urban clientele are looking for. (BMWs, MBs, Range Rovers, Escalades, etc.) They don't care if they offer you junk, as long as it looks good and enticing. I've shopped around in places like this and the cars are doused with armor all and have mismatched paint panels/gaps, generic aftermarket parts, broken key cylinders, missing navigation discs, broken trim etc. They are not shy to alter or cover up anything legally or illegally to make a sale happen. I'm sure most of us know that.

Not to say you can't get a good deal, just be real careful. They are masters of doubletalk, research it all.

There's something off about that dealer. It's a buy here pay here and the pricing of the rest of their inventory seems way too cheap also. An '08 5 series for $10k? An '08 7 series for $15k?

Yea I was looking at those other prices on the other cars, they insisted the price was right, a one owner car and a clean title. I'm going there Saturday to check it out, I talked to the people twice already and they weren't pushy and I asked about the financing there. It's not actually financed through them, they do just like any other large reputable dealership does. They have several banks which are banks I have heard of and are in my area. I would be buying it for cash anyways, but I'm still going to have it checked out up and down.

Bait and switch is rampant in the area. You call and they will say they have the car. You go there and they will either act like they don't know what you are talking about and show you something totally different or tell you the car "just got sold". And no they don't have to show you proof.

What OP needs to do is to call and say "OK so here is a deposit hold the car and fax me everything in writing." Chances are the dealer will weasel out of that and if he does you know he is a liar. Any dealer would be EAGER to get a deposit over the phone. Or he will admit it is a typo. At which point you can start a nice fight with the GM and threaten a suit. Of course he will say his site is not responsible for errors, but there are still ways you can win a deal. I don't know if you want to go that far, lol.

BTW OP I wouldn't wait till Sat. If this deal is legit, someone might jump on it right away. This is out in the open now, lol.

I don't think a 3G type s will really save you money on gas though. It may be marginally more fuel efficient than the 4G TL and a truck, but for driving 142 miles daily I would get a 4 cylinder

I bought my '05 UA6 in *minty* condition for a little over $11k. Mind you, the car had 110,000 miles on it - but the interior was superb and there was very little body damage.

I'd be very skeptical of that Type S.

Just remember, a dealership has only one thing in mind...to make money. They aren't there to give the best possible deal to people. They are a business. So like already mentioned, it's either a typo, some shady dealership shit they supposedly do in the NE, or the car is a rebuilt wreck. Take your pick ;-)

In addition to the price, I noticed that there's an aspec front lip but not on the rear. Could just be me being paranoid but it could also be that the car was hit and repaired at some point.

It doesn't hurt to take a look at the car in person as other members mentioned above. Curious to hear what your findings are. Good luck!

they usually replace the type s bumper for a base, when its in an accident. that lip could be hiding it.
