'06 vs '07 Tranny reliability?

There seem to be little to no complaints about the 07 tl's Tranny compared to the numerous amount of complaints about the 04-06 tranny... Is there a reason to that?

The tranny in the 07-08 TL/TL-S is different. It's said to be the same as the one in the RL, which some have called "bulletproof". I wouldn't go that far with my confidence in it, but then again, I don't ever recall someone on here with those two model years complaining about it.

07-08 TL using the modified version of the Acura RL AT, suppose to be a improvement design. I too never heard any major complaint about 07-08 trany.

Plus, unsurprisingly, 04-06 are older than 07-08 cars. Issues might take a bit longer to popup, if issues there is.

I have an 07 and have had a brief issue. Once on a cold morning I warmed up the car and headed on the highway for work. Making my way on the on ramp I red lined first and second then let off the gas. It would not up shift into 3rd 4th or 5th. It was stuck in second screaming. Tried to put it into ss and manually shift it but no luck so I quickly tried to make my way to the next exit. As I was about to exit it finally got into the correct gear and I continued to head to work. Soon after I changed the pressure switches and switched over to the redline atf. Haven't had an issue since.

I have heard of 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches but what is redline atf? I know its some kind of flui you put in the car but I don't get what it does and what it replaces. Tranny fluid?

Redline is an oil brand.
Best synthetic Race Oil many think.
ATF is their fluid for automatic transmissions.

I bought an 07 AT 130k and seems to be fine. Fluid looked neglected when I bought it so attribute my "early down shift" to 3rd to this. I believe I found a DIY for cleaning the screens on the solenoids and think this could be the issue. While braking from right around 45 MPH she well drop into 3rd at around 35 mph and this causes a slight "engine brake" effect.

And late 07-08 have 3 pressure sensors. Of which I have replaced all three. Two 2nd to 3rd and one 3rd to 4th. Could be the other way around but I remember it being backwards of the way I thought it would be.

Some say early 07s would have the 04-06 setup. Mine is 35k into the production run and had three sensors. Never saw a number of how many 07s were made WITHOUT the improved tranny.

Please understand I am not trying to give out "false info" and honestly was just trying to be helpful. Go blame the people who have indicated this.

On another note, I have a hard time telling if this down shift "engine brake" effect is normal operation. I feel like it is light enough that it might actually be but no one seems to be able to tell me for sure.

Does this on level surface, mostly when slowing from around 35-40 as you pull up to a stop... Braking gently.

yes my TL does it when I breaking gently for a red light and I can felt the car down shift into the lower gear and come to a stop. It's get more annoying if you driving where hill espcially when you going down hill, the car always love to hold lower gear.

Im glad mine is 07TL,, but I do have a question not to steal OP thread,
I noticed some fast shif in between gears, and when the car slows down, I could feel downshift gears, just wondering if that's normal, I never had an auto car, and this is my first one.... what are you thoughts guys, is that normal just wondering.
