Has anyone on here went from '02TL-S to '04TL? I recently totaled my '02TL-S & was going to purchace an '04. If you have indeed upgraded, how much do you like the '04 vs TL-S or not?

I'm going to miss the agean blue pearl color the most, I think I'm going have to paint my new one that color.

 

The 04 TLs are HOT. specially A SPEC. i'd wait for an 05 though...ya never know what kinks they might work out of it. 05 TL A-SPEC (maybe chrome rims) Anthracite/ebony/nav .....that's my favorite combo....if it's avail in the 05s.

i'd just wait for an 05.......it's only out in like less than a month anyway, isn't it?...yeah. peace

 

I had a 2001 TL, then sold it with 1400 miles to get a 2002 TL-S. I loved that car, it was great, but does not even compare to my '04 TL. I changed color from black to Anthracite, and went with a 6mt and navi. This car is great....no rattles, absolutely perfect in every regard. I do get tired of shifting constantly, but when I'm in a "driving" mood, there is just no substitute for a MT. This is the nicest car I've ever owned, and have no regrets selling the TL-S....the new TL is far superior.

 

I had a 2002 TL-P (e.g. not -S), and I upgraded after only owning that for less than two years. The feature package on the new TL, even without navi, simply crushes that of the old one. Click "rvw" in my signature below, next to the "2004 TL....."etc. to get an idea of my initial and current impressions.

ABP was a gorgeous color, wasn't it? R.I.P. But you can replace it with anthracite!

I went from a 2002 typeS to a 6spd. There simply isn't any comparison. The new car is simply better in every category, period.

 

The new TL will be familiar surroundings for sure. I too miss my Aegean Blue Type-S (02). So what happened that you totaled your Type-S?

 

I went from an Aegean Blue Pearl 02 TL-S to a SSM 04 TL-5AT and I love it.

The 04 feels more planted on the road and despite the stock tires, grip the road better. The 04 also accelerates better. Maybe it's just me but it feels a tad faster on the acceleration. It's rock solid on the highway and quiet as a recording studio... well, the DVD audio also sounds like you're in the studio given a good quality DVD-A disc.

I got the Navi this time and it's great with all the features of the car. It's a great touring car with performance if you need it. The voice activated controls and the bluetooth cell phone link also rock!

I love this car even more that I did my 02 TL-S. It's a step up from an already great car.

 

That blue did look nice on the older TL's. However, the 04's are better in every way.

 

I have both........

They're about equally as fast (although I like the throttle on the Type S better). The TL-S sounds MEANER and BETTER than the 04 in VTEC but the 04 has a nicer exhaust note.

However, the new TL is better than the old in almost every way. Even the closing of the doors is more solid. My 04 is rattle free (knock on wood) unlike my TL-S. And like someone said before, the 04 has very nice road feel.

In summary, an 04 TL w/ Navi is a nice upgrade and I guarantee you'll be happy. I absolutely love my 04.

 

I just came back from my local Acura dealer looking to trade in my race car inspired, rice rocket Mitsu Evolution for a TL.

A little bit of history on me. I sold my Honda S2000 for the Evolution and all around performance jumped substantialy however the Evo is just a little over the top to be driven on a daily basis. So after my wife's 2001 TL-P lease ran out 4 months ago we purchased an MDX for the family but really loved and wanted the '04 TL.

Fast forward a few months and tonight I finally got a chance to drive and compare a 2002 TL Type S to a 2004 TL. I can say this their simply is NO comparision. The 2004 felt faster than the Type S and in fact FEELS almost as quick as my Evolution and this in a 5 AT.

The TL Type S did have 37k on it but was clean ... I mean clean as a whistle and the '04 TL had 3k.

The silky smoothness, torque and top end power of the '04 TL are truly impressive. The car felt firm, well planted but very comfortable to drive on a daily basis. The interior and stereo system especially XM comletely rock. I have never been an advocate for XM or Sirius but it was AWESOME.

I drove a Infiniti G35 several weeks ago and the TL is in my opinon superior in many areas.

Now I just need to get off the boat and but one .... for Invoice $30,2xxx .....

I just wonder if I should take a 6 speed for a test drive ... especially being that I have never owned an automtic ....

How does the manual compare to the auto ?

I traded a silver type s for my wdp '04 back in November, and I couldn't be happier for all the reasons menioned above, including the fact that the type s is such an ordinary looking car....I never miss my '02...never. I've had seven Acuras..and this one is heads and shoulders above the rest. Now I'm gonna have to trade up to the new RL in another year, but that's another story. :P

From what you all said, I should love my new NBP W/ebony & Navi more than my recently departed TL-S in time. The only thing I don't like is that it looks shorter & it didn't come in any exciting colors like the Aegean Blue. My '04 should arrive on Sept.6 per the dealer & I'm going jump in it as soon as it rolls of the truck. Can't wait. My girl can't wait either so that I can stop crying over my lost TL-S.

If RonJon comes out w/that kit..I think I'll get that & paint it Aegean Blue, I can't help..I love that color.

Got my '04 Black/Ebony w/full under body spoiler & deck lid on 9/10/04....love it....well everything except the boring black color..wish they still offered it in the old Aegean Blue. I miss looking for that color in parking lot b/c I stood out so much. But the black is cool.

Can't wait to drop it, add some 19' black rims & tint the windows!!
