I believe that was the published numbers for the 6 speed 0-60.
To me thats plenty fast...are all these guys who want more performance the automatic trans fellas? Just wondering...to me the car feels as fast as i will ever need it to go. I would think most people who buy these cars are late 20's and up and wouldnt really care to have the fastest car anymore...fast? sure. Just not the fastest.

Wrong! My TT has a 0-60 of 5.7 (with mods) and the TL is not that quick. I'm guessing after my test drive that low 6's is more realistic. The TL is quick enough for what it is a 4 dr sports sedan. The FWD makes it "light" on it's feet. I think it's the best sports sedan for the money which is why I'll be getting one in 3 wks when my TT goes back. I could have gotten an S60R or many other more expensive sedans but the extra dough isn't worth the money based on the TL's performance and amenities/tech features. Doug :toothless

It's never fast enough

Especially when you consider that accelerating happens so often when driving.... increasing the HP (and more importantly, torque) is always appealing... the faster I can get to speed the better

Adequate, YES.

Could stand improvement, 300 ft-lb torque, 300 HP, AWD, with Michelon Pilots mounted on 18s, comptech springs would be ideal.

hmm

I dunno--my auto cls was supposedly 0-60 in 6.4 secs and this definitely feels faster than my cl. If I really thought about it if anything I would probably want more Torque if it could be had very cheaply..(less than 200)--
and didnt make the car sound "ghetto" or ricey..or increase torque steer.
Torque > Horsepower.

Sure it's enough - but that won't stop me from tweaking on it a bit.

If you want the fastest 4-dr sedan with AWD for under $35K, then get a WRX STi........the TL is just a compromise....don't pretend to make it into something it's not.

I agree. While I like the torque and overall quickness of my TL, I feel it could have more.

but then again, I don't think I've ever had a car where I said "gee, that's too much power"

I hate to break it to you, but reaction time shouldn't factor in to your 1/4 mile time. You can have a 5 second reaction time, but the slip is going to show what you ran from the moment you broke the starting beam.

Hey, Dougpt10, you aren't going to claim you can gauge .4 - .5 seconds of 0-60 based off of driving two different cars, are you? I have ridden in two cars which tied in a head-on race, only to swear that one was much faster by feel. I don't buy it if someone claims a car is a few tenths quicker without seeing it on paper. Sure, I'd believe you if we are talking about more than a second, but not the difference between 5.7 and "low 6's"
PS. was it a MT TL you drove, or an auto? Just curious.

Ride a motorcycle and whatever else you ride is just something to get around in. It really puts things into prespective.

Done. I have a Honda CBR 954RR. I have run it at the strip at 11.1 @ 128 (which ain't saying much, as it is supposed to run 10.2 @135, but I'm afraid of the wheelies!). I still think my TL is fast. Cars can still "feel" fast even after riding bikes. It's just that when you floor a car for five seconds from 40mph, and you are used to sport bikes, you are amazed that you are only going, say 70(give or take). On a sport bike, if you floor it for 5 seconds at 40, you are doing well over 100. But the car still pulls you back in your seat, and "feels" fast.

Does that matter? I thought the A-spec dealt with non-engine components?

DougPT10, could you explain this quote from your earlier post? I had to laugh out loud when I read it!
"I could have gotten an S60R or many other more expensive sedans but ***the extra dough isn't worth the money***"

Although I love my TL for what it is. I still think theres room for improvement. The 238 lbs. of torque is a little low. I would like to try and get at lease 330 hp, and 300 lbs of torque, out of my TL after all the mods I plan to make. Everyone says i should have got a WRX Sti if I wanted all the power. But an STi is not a TL. The sti and TL are two totaly different cars STi (rally Car) TL (Luxury sports sedan). I just want the perfect combo of power, performance, and luxury w/o having to spend 80k on a benz AMG, or a BMW M5.

It's adequate for city driving, but for getting out there in the country and killing innocent animals, I prefer a little more speed. For really intense situations, like driving up Mount Everest or escaping Earth's gravity, the TL does seem a bit sluggish. In such cases I find Low gear better than the Sport Shift. Now, once you're out in wide open outer space, it doesn't really matter, because the tires just spin, spin, spin like crazy motherfuckers. Nothing to grab onto out there. Though the blue lights do look really cool.

EXACTLY! after taking my Honda NSR250 on the track all day, even my 360 hp '93 RX7 felt sluggish :toothless bottom line is the TL is a fun, comfortable, luxurious, sport sedan.

WRX vs TL? thats a joke. wrx is an ugly rough riding crap wagon. you can have it. and the evo too. I will keep my tl and go fast enough with a civil comportment.

Get around in, is probably right. I bet your 8 second Chevy doesn't "get around" a track like a bike. :P
