18 RLX Hybrid engine air filter

I still have my original OEM engine air filter for my 18 RLX hybrid with +14,000 miles. Wanted to find out if folks just replace with OEM or had a 3rd party replacement you like better (like EPAuto, Premium Guard, PG Air, FRAM, etc...).

I'll admit that over the years with probably 13 Honda vehicles, I've tried many aftermarket filters, including K&N Drop In, and I always end up going back to OEM simply because it's about as good as you get, and if you get it thru a mailorder OEM place the cost isn't that bad. When the wife's RLX needs a replacement, I'll just stick with OEM.

For Engine Air Filter, I stick with OEM. Don't want to mess with cheap 3rd filters that could cause issues. Did you guys have any problems removing the air filter box on RLX. They use screws on RLX as opposed to clamps like on MDX to hold down air box and one of my screw head seems to be stripped. I didn't want to make it worst, so I didn't open it to check condition of the filter. I need to bring this up next time I get oil change.

Cabin air filter, on the other hand, I was surprised to find it was just a cheap thin paper filter with no carbon activated charcoal. I had carbon filter in my previous car, it makes a noticeable different filtering out outside odors. So I order these from RockAuto -WIX24815XPNew design with PUR-AIR technology $13.02 each. Ordered 2 pcs as the same filter fit both our MDX and RLX.

I just went ahead and ordered two OEM engine filter for my MDX/RLX hybrids. I will check out how the engine air filter box when they come in. I usually use a socket wrench if it is the type that has both Phillips screwdriver or socket to remove. Very easy to strip or snap those types of screws in half if you use too much pressure.

I gave Bosch 6029C 99.97% HEPA cabin filter a try last spring. The pollen is pretty bad in my neighborhood compared to needing carbon for odors.

I ordered from Acura Parts Warehouse
RLX hybrid air filter part number: 17220-R9P-A01
Price: $25.39+shipping
Phillips screw driver or 5/16th socket head needed to remove the four bolts securing the air box. A 5 minute job to change out OR 10-15 minutes if the air box is dusty/sandy/dirty.

Where is the cabin filter located on the RLX? Thanks!

Cabin air filter is behind the glove box. About a 5-8 min job and you need no tools to change out.

Yup behind door in glovebox. 30 sec tops to change. I've noticed with the new carbon activate filter, no more outside odors or at least not as bad as before.
