Open letter of thanks to the betatesters
I wanted to express a very sincere thank you to all of the RLX owners on this forum and especially the RLX Sport Hybrid "beta testers". The honest, detailed and infinitely relevant information that you have shared has been invaluable to me in reaching a decision to purchase an RLX Sport Hybrid.
Regarding the purchase, to make a long story short, I took my wife's MDX in for an A1 Service two days ago, bumped into the sales manager...yada, yada, yada,... I picked up a new 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid this afternoon.
First driving impressions:
After reading the glowing reviews of the Sport Hybrid, my expectations were astronomical and the Sport Hybrid didn't disappoint. I've only driven the car for about 20 minutes, so my impressions are very preliminary, but the highlights so far are:
- The power is amazing (and I haven't pushed it yet)
- The HUD is the greatest thing ever
- I'm really going to love the Brake Hold
- I'm really going to love the Surround Camera (especially to keep the wheels from curb rash)
- I'm going to have to be VERY careful not to get speeding tickets because the car is so smooth and quiet, the speed just creeps up on you.
- The one thing I would single out as a surprise would be the transmission - the shifts are, in a word, perfect.
Thanks again to everyone for your help.

Welcome, beta-tester number nine!
And please tell us you got a screaming deal because you were really, really, REALLY patient and waited for us to pay MSRP or close to it.

Thanks Bob.
I got a smokin' hot deal - $13000 off MSRP, $1700 more than book value on my trade AND a stupid good lease rate deal (I've never leased a car before, but with a negligible rate, it is pretty much free money for 4 years and I'll just buy it out then). They were anxious to move out the last 2014 and the sales rep I've known for many, many years really went to bat for me. They had to get Acura Canada involved to help sweeten the deal with incentives to make it happen.
I was told that the Sport Hybrid for 2015 (and beyond??) will be order only. That is, the dealerships won't stock them, they will bring one in for you if you order one. I had intended to wait for the 2016's, but the 2015 aren't scheduled to arrive for quite some time (this is for the Canadian version, I have no idea what is planned for the USA) and the news that has leaked regarding the changes for 2016 didn't really excite me, so I pulled the trigger rather than wait for 2017 and likely pay considerably more.

Welcome aboard. Nice to have another member of the club......one of the few Canadians. It will be interesting to see how your gas mileage compares with others in different climates.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences with your Sports Hybrid. Hope they are as positive as rest of the existing beta testers but each driver is different so each driver's feelings about the car can easily be different but equally as valid. We will welcome hearing your opinions especially if they differ from ours.

Here's my first stupid question as a new owner... How many miles were on your car when you picked it up from the dealer. I ask because mine had 80km (approx. 50 miles) which I thought was high for a new car and it got me wondering if that is the norm for the RLX (perhaps a few additional miles of testing before they hit the boat due to the "issues that caused the launch delay??)

I had 237 miles at delivery because mine was a dealer swap. No one test drove it at the other dealer. It was originally at a dealer in West Virginia and sent to my dealer in Ohio. Considering free transport was part of my deal (usually $500 charge at my dealer), I didn't complain.
Hondamore, in addition to the free transport, I got a few more freebies for my few hundred off MSRP deal, including all-season mats, splash guards, and a trunk mat. Those are another several hundred bucks plus cost of installing splash guards.
