2019 RDX advance rattles
2019 RDX advance rattles
Anybody else have similar rattles inside the cabin. I know some of them are coming from the hud. But it feels like the interior of the whole car is vibrating when going over roads that has cracks in them or roads that have rumble strip like texture.

is this normal in RDX? I tried to put foam, took it to the dealer but still cant figure out where the noise is coming from. Around the bottom of the windshield and passenger door area. Any suggestions on how to isolate the problem?

I had a "tap tap tap" sound from my 2021 TLX that neither I or the dealer could figure out until recently. It only happened when driving over uneven road (like a manway cover, turning on a slope, etc).
Turns out it was the driver-side seat belt mount hitting against the seat. There's some very small padding there but apparently not enough to mitigate the sound. Try putting something soft there or hold it while driving over uneven ground to see if the noise disappears.

I have a 2020 RDX A-Spec that rattles, creaks & clicks. People on here have berated me for highlighting how poor the interior build quality is on my RDX. I've seen other complaints crop up here and on Reddit. I've resigned to just "dealing" with the fact that build quality is not great on these cars. I've addressed some and fixed them, others still persist.
I still have rattles from various areas of the dash, panoramic sunroof still pops/clicks & rattle from the B-pillar on the driver's side. They're nearly all intermittent but with no consistency in what causes them. Different temperatures, different spots on the same road.
I'll have to wait to see if the lower control arms start rattling this winter when we get sub-freezing temps. Hopefully get those replaced before the warranty expires.

I tried stuffing foam in between the hud plastic and the dashboard but that didnt help. Tried putting foam in between the wooden trim and the dash on the left and right areas but that didnt help. I understand that the quality isnt there but its just that its so bad that these cars shouldnt even be passing quality control checks. My car is at the dealer right now. Had to beg the service director to do some more of what his dept did, because whatever they did helped to some extent.
Btw, my hud still rattles and if I go on roads with cracks in them, the whole interior of the car jiggles as if nothing is holding it in place.
Yea, I had issues with the A-pillar as well. That's one of the few that were actually fixable.
If I got over a string of fixed potholes (which are common where I live), the dash sometimes sounds like it's rattling apart. It's embarrassing. Honestly, my 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo with 108k miles, which is my daily work beater, has less rattles and is better put together.

I fixed this by using thin foam sheets with adhesive on one side that's sold at Michael's (craft store).

Regarding the HUD rattle. My 2019 did it over sharp bumps at most speeds. I had a strip of soft but firm rubbery felt-like material that I could fold to get the right thickness and wedged it between the HUD unit and the dash. It's wedged pretty tight, only on the left side, and the rattle is gone. Hope this helps.
