Question Considering RDX Tech from TSX

RDX owners,

I am considering a move from my 2008 TSX with Navi to a CPO 2007/2008 RDX with Tech package, primarily for seat comfort of wife and my constant displeasure with a constant rattle.

Can you please tell me what you do NOT like about your RDX, and if, given the amount of interior plastic in the car, if squeaks and rattles should be expected?

Also, while I've driven it, my time with it has not been too long, so what do you think of the amount of road noise, wind noise, and how does the chassis hold up over bumps?

Thank you all in advance!

I think the RDX build quality is very good. I don't hear any plastic rattling inside the RDX. If you have loose stuff rattling around in the glove compartment or door bins, you can get rubber liners to quiet those.

The RDX (or any SUV) will have more road noise than a similar quality sedan just because of the wider tires and taller windshield.

I've had the occansional windshield rattle. Nothing like my TSX. Can't comment on the road noise cause I took my stockers off.

i beg to differ here, the TSX is on an entirely other level in terms of build quality. I think the RDX is a junker compared to it, sorry.

For an Acura, it has many rattles that include the windshield, plastic, rear hatch, and the speakers cause some serious rattling. The TSX is a tank compared to the RDX. that is just my 2. many ppl may try and sugar coat the RDX, but its very unrefined. thats my dead honest opinion.

from your post, it seems like you got the RDX vibe right off the test drive..what you have noticed already you will be dealing with during your entire ownership.

The RDX sounds like it always has a window or a door open, and if you hit decent bumps in succession, the suspension quickly unravels and loses composure.

It may sound like im sand bagging my own ride, but these are the most obvious pit falls of the model, at least to me. I still love the car, but it takes alot of compromise from a day to day basis.

I'd have to agree. The ride is actually decent to me, but add in a couple harsh bumps (like an old railway crossing) and the thing falls apart. I get a few creaks, not to many rattles and the speaker rattle (mostly on AM radio).

The engine is also a bit rough - which is odd because the TSX 4 cyl is butter smooth. This should be the same basic engine, except with a turbo.

The fit/finish and materials is still quite good to me.

I can only comment on my RDX but like I have said before I must be blessed because my car has zero noise in it. I only had one problem with a seat belt causing a noise which was fixed. I can drive at 90 and it is smooth and quiet. It is getting noiser now that tires have worn down a bit but nothing bad. I would go as far to say it is just as quiet if not better then my wife's Lexus.

As far as ride quality I will agree that it is tightly sprung. Dont think this is a luxo cruiser..it is sporty. That said it has good handling. Only issues are that you need to get used to the AWD setup and the tires could be a bit better if you really push it.

The engine is a bit unrefined because of the noise from the turbo but you get used to it. It is not a nice smooth V6. Some people like it and some people dont. Chocolate and Vanilla.

The only thing I really dislike about the car is the wheel/tire package. I would love it if the wheels filled the wells a bit more.
