Changing Inner Tail light

Hi,

I need some help changing the inner tail light (right) cover since it's cracked. Haven't found any videos or instructions on this model. Anyone have any information on how to do this?

it's basically like any other car, find the screws that hold the light in place....which is usually hidden on the underside of the tailgate behind plastic covers.

you wont be able to change JUST the taillight cover...you will need to replace the WHOLE (inner) housing, as they dont sell replacement covers. they only sell the whole (inner) housing.

If you buy the new housing first you can use that to tell where the attachment points are for the one on the car.

There is a pop off connector on the end that is closest to the front of the car,. If you gently pull the unit outwardly, it will pop-out. There is a “head” on that attachment that will pop back in when you replace it. That caused me some consternation, but it all worked out well.

the plastic cover is huge and it covers both tail lights, did you have to remove the black clip as well? I just don't want to break anything.

I had a diagram, but can’t find the file right now. The end of the assembly closest to the back door is the “pop-off” grommet. If you gently pull the tail light assembly it sill pop off. Better would be to have a plastic tool like many of us have to open a computer, or even a soft plastic shaft to pry the grommet and the assembly will pop off. To replace it, just pop the grommet back in and the rest is self-explanatory.
