Hi all,

I street parked to visit my friend's house and then i found the passenger side tail light of my car is cracked. I strongly feel that someone just hit it with some tool w/ hand on purpose for no reason.



So my question is, what is the best solution to fix my tail light?
I checked that all the functions (lights) work fine. Only issue is that housing is cracked.

Option 1) Can I just replace housing? if so, do I need any professional touch to replace it? I checked the ebay, I couldnt find the part. I am currently trying to contact with bruce(AckTL).

Option 2) should I just get whole new tail light from ebay? if so, are they just easily swappable? (plug & play)?

The light is one complete piece molded together,so you can't replace just the outer piece.

Best option is to replace the complete unit.Removal/ installation is simple
1) remove the clips/screws that retain the trunk carpet,only enough so that you can access the nuts at the rear of the light

2) once you peel back the carpet, you will see three/four (can't remember) black nuts that resemble an allen key,slack all of them and tap lightly on them to loosen the light housing,then remove all the nuts,unplug the wiring harness and the light will come out.

 

Forgot to mention,its optional but i put masking tape on the paint surrounding the light housing to offer some protection of the paint during removal and installation.

 

buy a replacement tail light, one of the vendors should be able to get you a great discount on a light.

dude i told you this when you texted me.. its a whole assembly that has to be replaced.. you cant simply just repair the housing..
