Your Oil of Choice ?

Getting ready for my first oil change. I've jumped all over the board when it comes to choice in past and current vehicles. 2001 Ford Sport-Trac I use Mobil 1 and in my 2011 Harley Amsoil. Used to use Caster Oil in my Chevy Camaro. What would be your choice?

Just like how you used three different oils, it really doesnt matter....
as long as the oil you choose has an API certified seal on the bottle, it really doesnt matter.

I bet you couldnt tell the difference between the explorer sport trak, harley, or camaro as a person cannot feel molecule differences

the MAIN thing is that you change the oil on a regular basis, whether you choose to do it on your own interval or follow the on-board computer...change the oil regularly and the brand of oil wont make one bit of a difference

Mobil1 has a rebate now. Pennzoil sometimes has a rebate too. Don’t see a good reason to use amsoil

I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w20. It runs great, and they usually have good rebates/coupons. Just keep an eye out on Slickdeals.

I get mobile 1 advanced full synthetic. as much as I hate walmart they have the best prices on mobil1, $25.77 for 5 quarts, can't beat that!

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobil-1-E...QaAmAZEALw_wcB

Looking at the rebate walmart isnt include, probably because price wise its as cheap as the oil with the rebate already

There seems to be a glitch. Go ahead and submit rebate for walmart, they will honor it. Its been confirmed on slickdeals website.

You need to go with an oil that is certified as API SN PLUS / GM dexos 1 that has been designed to prevent Low Speed Pre-Ignition (see this post for more on LSPI)

I would also recommend fully synthetic to keep your intake valves and combustion chamber cleaner since most engines these days are direct injection and use closed loop EGR and PCV systems. The fuel cannot wash the intake valves clean like it could back in the days with port injection.

Looks like mobil1 has this covered very well And their synthetics oils are certified API SN PLUS, they have a whole page talking about LSPI

This is the oil I use

I am a Pennzoil Platinum guy and buy at Walmart for $23 and look out for the rebates. Just bought two 5-qt jugs and got $20 off. Mobil1 is my back up oil if that's got a rebate going.

So if I buy whatever oil is on sale, should I do the same for the filter? I have used Mobil-1 synthetic and picked the matching Mobil-1 filter. I've also used Pennzoil (which is made from natural gas) and have purchased the Bosch premium filter to go with it.

Yes, but I would only use top rated filters like m1. Keep in mind that the same filter can be used for two oil changes as recommended in manual

Based on the testing I have seen posted in several places, RP is just a lot of hype and over priced. You would do just as well with Mobil1 or Pennzoil but your money and your car.
