Acura should do what Ford has done. Abandon sedans and focus on electrified drivetrains for their SUVs -- at a minimum hybrids and plug in hybrids for their existing SUVs but perhaps BEVs as well. The lack of hybrid drivetrains is going to hurt them big time with the current price of gas.

But I agree that it’s hard to make a car feel lively with all of that extra battery weight.

A hybrid doesn’t have to be a luxobarge appliance. Electric power can boost HP and torque especially at the lower end where something like the RDX needs it most. The MDX Sport Hybrid was well reviewed for its drivetrain and sportiness. I’d buy an RDX Sport Hybrid in a heartbeat, even if it didn’t offer much in the way of better mpg…okay, a little better mpg would be nice

Based on the leaks, what new color 2022 RDX are you most interested in?
- Tiger Eye Pearl
- Phantom Violet Purple
- Liquid Carbon Metallic
- Long Beach Blue (exclusive to the PMC version only)
I think I'm going to go with the Liquid Carbon Metallic. I currently have the Modern Steel Metallic finish and I find it to be pretty forgiving when it comes to any dirt, even scratches. Not going to lie though, Black with a red interior sounds nice too....and so does that Phantom Violet Purple.
Tiger Eye Pearl would be cool too and I'm sure the Long Beach Blue PMC will look incredible.

Liquid carbon would be my vote. As much as I like real colors on cars, Tiger Eye Pearl and Long Beach Blue on a crossover is too loud and just makes it seem like it's trying too hard to be something it's not.

Hmm looks like they gave it the MDX front bumper and said “face-lift!” Looks good nonetheless though I like the pre-facelift bumper. But love to hear that it will have wireless Apple CarPlay, can anyone confirm if it’s getting Digital gauge cluster like 2022 MDX?

One big pink elephant in the room...
Tiger Eye Pearl is not a color offered. It appears to still be for the Type-S only.
So why was it on that first leak? Hmmmm......could it be that a Type-S is actually closer to unveiling than we know?

I think that was because it was in the ordering code for that color to be optioned. Maybe it might be some type of Type S influence edition like PMC.

I think the rims are the same for PMC and Advanced ASPEC. Both receive the new 15 spoke, black 20 inch rims.

From the press release, it looks like they moved over alot of the features from the MDX - obviously wireless CP/AA and the Qi wireless charging mat, but also the interior lighting themes, the USB-C charging ports, the folding side mirrors (on the Advanced), extra power outlet in the trunk, speed limit detection by camera recognition. I think those are good solid improvements. I was surprised to see them add that new improved Lane Change Assist safety feature. That's not a feature in the MDX. The one thing I would love for them to add is the smart rear view mirror (where it's a screen of a separate rear view camera (usually mounted high). That would be especially nice when you have the interior packed full. It's not on any of the other Acura models, but it's something I can see them adding without too much trouble across the line.

It's a shame I drive my car so little (23000kms in 2+ years) as the new update contains so many things I'm keen on having particularly the improved sound insulation (this is a loud car for its class), wireless charging/CarPlay and combining the Advance/A-Spec features. I can't justify what would probably be a $12-15k upgrade for something I'll only drive on weekends but these are exciting changes for future owners.
Edit: Also, the Orchid leather is awesome. I hope it's available in the A-Spec w/Advance with an exterior of Performance Red Pearl.

It’s gonna be tough for me. I never get rid of a well working car after a measly 3 years, but if I can keep the 19s, get better sound proofing and ride control, and get folding mirrors to boot, I might work on justifying it.

I was pretty excited about the interior lighting that the TLX added but after driving one for 2 weeks I realized it was more distracting for me personally.
