When to expect 2022 RDX info?
While the infotainment system is still a huge turn off for us, we are nonetheless keeping the RDX on the consideration list and were wondering when 2022 info would be available? Really interested if there are any improvements to the infotainment system or packaging.

Judging by the '22 MDX that just came out, I don't expect the infotainment to change a whole lot for the RDX. You might get wireless Carplay but then it should have shown up on the '21 TLX too.

I am curious about that as well. I heard that because MDX'es screen is larger, that somehow makes the Truetouch pad work better, but I can't imagine RDX getting a bigger screen in mid cycle refresh. Not sure how TLX is different/improved compared to RDX.

Looking forward to the info for the 2022 as well. Currently have a 2018 RDX and thinking about trading it in and buying a 2021/2022 RDX a-spec. I'm making a list of pro/cons for my decision. Being a lefty, I am not thrilled with the touchpad interface but I do love the new look especially with the a-spec package.

For better for worse, people who really know don't want to talk, but I think everyone expect at least parity with TLX that means adding TJA, individual IDS, and wireless charging.
My guess is due to the huge electrification push taking place in Honda, Acura needs to be careful with spending and so the current infotainment unit will stick. One of the must-have features for MMC is wireless AA/CarPlay, and I still think hardware spec wise, the existing infotainment unit can support wireless AA/CP. Besides, changing the infotainment unit may require changes in other control modules. There are a lot of things running behind the scenes, and some processings are done by the instrument meter for example, that I feel the architecture makes cherry-picking across components more complex than it sounds.
It would be great if Acura just drops in the 2nd-gen unit from MDX to RDX MMC. I hope I am wrong with my prediction.

This was something I was concerned with before leasing the TLX and I am glad Acura improved on the initial application from the RDX and find it no issue at all now that I am driving the car for over a month.

I really hope that is true. Being a lefty and trying to control the touchpad with my off-hand I need all the help I can get. I tried it on my loaner and it was difficult to use while driving. When stopped I was able to use it more correctly. It was hard to get a true feel for it though as nothing was customized and I wasn't using any voice commands either.
As much as I like the technology I do miss knobs and levers.

The RDX's I drove as loaners were very touchy and hard to select the different applications-if you did not apply the exact pressure. It was very frustrating. The 2021 TLX is more precise and I have no problem in selecting a choice from the screen. The MDX is similar from the reviews I have seen so for sure this improvement will be applied to the 2022 RDX.

TJA - not a huge help. Even less so once the traffic info expires and you don't reup on the subscription.
IDS - The whole point of an IDS is to customize to your preferences and to have the car remember it next time you start up the car. The IDS is rendered less functional since you have to press the Acura button every time you start the car just to get back to your preferences!

Few thoughts...
TouchPad gets a bad wrap, my wife included. Once you stopped trying to use it like a traditional mouse she got it and likes it. I'd recommend giving it a shot. I find it actually easier to use than others TouchPad (like Lexus) that work more like a mouse. The Acura TouchPad is a 1:1 of the screen. Easy to use.
There is a speed/sensitivity setting for the TouchPad. We find putting it in the low/slowest settings works best and prevents inaccurate touches.
Lastly, the one flaw that you just can't get around it using it for Apple Carplay or Android Auto. These are definitely better when you have a touchscreen. TouchPad not so great.
Good luck!

Thank you for the input on TouchPad. We plan to use Apple CarPlay exclusively, so that means, 1-1 screen relation is out the window, leaving us with crappy trackpad like any other car; ie, Lexus. Still debating if this is the car for us, and if this thing had a touch input as an alternative, we would not think twice, but because it does not, it leaves us in this conundrum.

Got my RDX at the end of Jan 2021. Read all the horror stories and reviews about the infotainment thought it was going to be a forgone disaster. Didn't really test it out at the dealership cause I was going to get the RDX anyway (could not afford Audi Q3 trim I wanted).
The infotainment is fine. I use it for XM radio, FM radio, Nav, Apple carplay, rarely ever have any hiccups. You get used to the touchpad within a few uses. Just wish Apple Carplay did the same point-by-point touch as the native infotainment but not a deal-breaker at all.
Would definitely NOT let this dissuade you from buying this amazing car, yes I love it...especially that SH-AWD.
I do wish I had that MDX virtual cockpit though....

Funny to see everyones different reactions to the touchpad. I for one, will never get another Acura vehicle if this touch pad system is it in. I strictly use it for car play and will never get used to it. I miss my spin wheel of my old TLX.
#23
This is exactly our concern. We are planning to use infotainment system 99% for CarPlay and the touchpad seems like a step backwards from touch screen or even a knob. Why Acura, why?

In my search for my damaged RDX's replacement, one dealer had a used blue RDX A-Spec on their lot. The salesperson told me it had been there a long time as the prospective buyers were overwhelmed by the touchpad, and wanted a touch screen. You would think that Acura would see that even Lexus added a touchscreen option to their RX...Sigh I did get used to it, and ultimately it is very easy, but....let's face it, we ALL know how to use a touch screen, almost instinctively.

So do 2020+ Honda CR-V Touring trims.

48 volt Mild hybrid system.
This is what I would Like to see Acura offer in RDX 2022. Les expensive than a Full hybrid and PHEV. You still get the full benefits and driving performance from the 2.0 turbo but with additional 20hp to help you where the turbo is weak and that is turbo lag. In addition better fuel consumption and vastly improved stop and go function. This is a win win without going to a full hybrid and loosing that sporty driving experience. Just check the list of all the manufacturers that are using this technology. Why is Honda not there, I don’t know but maybe GM will do something now that they are dating. In fact, I would prefer this RDX with 300hp than a 3.0l type S with 350hp for the same price.

no mention of weight. you can tell Honda is exceedingly weight-conscious (As they should be), as they dispense with the ultra-minor amenities one might expect from a German car. i'm fine with this and would pay a little more in fuel costs to not drive a complete boat. that Mazda and Honda are still relatively minimalist in their design philosphy warms my heart.

If we take into consideration of the newest leaks on stuff, you can probably guess that they'll release info on it either mid September, or possibly October for a January release. They just leaked the NSX and Integra within these past 2 weeks. At this rate, highly doubt it'll be a December release. They wouldn't have that much new info to release this quickly.
#35
I wouldn’t characterize those as leaks - they were announcements. In the case of the NSX Type S there was some solid specs, in the case of the Integra it was just the announcement of the name returning and not much more. But I think both of those signal an increase in PR activity and I expect we’ll get some other info soon.

I am also interested to know what will be different in the 22MY of the RDX since I am looking to purchase one! It would be my first Acura. It looks like Acura's summer performance event ends on 8/31, so it wouldn't surprise me to see a September announcement.
From the internet; it looks likes revised rear and front fascias (maybe MDX styling queue's) and MDX interior with more ambient lighting. It would be annoying if skimmed out on the interior lighting based on package selection like in the MDX. Some volume from ELP has dropped this week and next, I wonder it if is for line improvements for the upcoming refresh or just chip shortages.

I also notice that dealers have a good inventory of 2021 rdx’s with more even ordered in the pipeline on the way. Glad I extended my lease for 6 mos.

I follow the Washington Nationals MLB team and sometime late last week while watching them on Mid-Altantic Sports Network, heard the announcer saying "...is brought to you by the new 2022 Acura RDX" along with something about seeing your local dealer. I've since heard it a few more times. I'd expect this to precede their actual availability but not by a big margin.
