Vandalized passenger side windows - 22 A-spec advance
Hi everyone,
Early Sunday morning some criminals wandered through our neighborhood and tried to break the passenger side windows of our 22 A-spec advance to gain entry. Happy new year to me right. Since it has the acoustic dual pane glass, the emergency tool that they were using only did enough damage to break the outside pane on one window and the window tint we had applied managed to hold all of it together so they couldn't get in. I'm pretty impressed that it didn't break all the way, but some of my neighbors vehicles were not so fortunate.
I have glass coverage with no deductible through our insurance co. However, I'm told that since the rear glass is on backorder, I can't get either replaced until both are available. I am thinking about using some packing tape to cover the damaged spots on the exterior and interior so that I don't worry about it being outside, but I was wondering if anyone had any better ideas to hold things together temporarily? I'm mainly concerned about a big storm breaking that rear passenger window out all the way and then dealing with water damage. I figured tape is better than nothing, and since they need to be replaced eventually anyway I don't think it will hurt anything.
Thoughts? Thanks

My previous car was broken into, and the BMW dealer applied "crash wrap" over the window opening since it would be a few days until the replacement glass would come in. It's a pretty durable adhesive film. Maybe ask your dealer if they have something like that to apply over the broken windows.

You can get an inexpensive car cover on Amazon too (this similar I have in the trunk of my RDX). I used it when traveling at hotels (thats my RDX under that cover) in the super hot summers, and is light and durable.

The RDX dimensions are: 187″ L x 75″ W x 66″ H. The Length is the key - getting one within a few inches (longer) is best. The one I bought was 191"L x 75"W x 73"H

Thanks everyone. I called the dealer and asked about crashwrap but the person answering the phone sounded pretty clueless and just responded with "You can bring it in anytime for a free estimate".
The front window has the least damage, and it looks like the exterior pane just has a big rock chip but the rest of the window is intact. The rear was kind of interesting, it's actually the inside pane that is shattered, but it is all being held up by a combination of the frame of the door, the inner window tint, and the laminated layer between the inner glass and outer glass. The outer glass is somehow still intact despite a couple dime size holes being punched out. I did some makeshift sealing with what I had in the garage to hopefully get us through until the backorder is over on the rear glass. All in all, just glad it stayed together enough to not have glass all over the inside of the car.
